Re: Winter Converstations: Casa de Khatti

Ok, let me steer the convo in another direction…

What have you seen/learned from your parents that you, now as an adult, would do differently?

Like for myself, I grew up seeing my mamoo, and then later my Ammi achieve great financial success. But they weren’t smart with their finances. They got caught in the rat race, living in the “now” without planning for tomorrow, and ultimately, like in my Mamoo’s case, at a time when he should have been retiring with ease, he has nothing to show for it. Or with Ammi, she left this world without her affairs in order. Navigating and settling her Estate has been a nightmare for me and my husband. So I most definitely am taken steps to not follow in those footsteps by making wiser decisions financially while also planning for what will make my children’s lives easier.

Re: Winter Converstations: Casa de Khatti

yeah my parents also have nothing to show for it, I won’t let that happen to me inshaAllah. Apne aap ko sacrifice karte rahe and now they are trying to save up for themselves.

what else? let’s see thinking :disgust:

Re: Winter Converstations: Casa de Khatti

What would I do differently from the folks?

Learning to prioritize amongst relationships and learning to compromise. Sometimes being right is less important than making and maintaining relationships.

Re: Winter Converstations: Casa de Khatti

Oh!!! I know one thing I’ve learned.

When I was younger, I used to cry and always said “When I have kids, I’m never gona phaintee them!!” :sid:

Now that I’m older, when ever I have kids, if they act anything like I did when I got things thrown across the room at me by my daddi ammi… yea.. We’ll see if I follow through with that oath.

Re: Winter Converstations: Casa de Khatti

I came here to have some messyskin food in su casa.

Where is chips n salsa, fajitas chiquitas, enchiladas, margaritas and some tecate

Re: Winter Converstations: Casa de Khatti

I’m not sure if there’s anything I would do differently. I would try to make sure that I spend more time with my extended family, but that’s not really something my parents had control over given that we usually always lived out of the city, or out of the country.

Equality! :biggthumb:
