Re: wining an argument is more important
You don't know ... But your intent has to be honest and consistent with the 'truth' you believe to be TRUE. This means be sincere ...
OBL was honest, consistent and sincere about what he believed to be the truth.
Hitler was the same.
(Not comparing OBL with Hitler. Just giving two extreme examples)

Re: wining an argument is more important
Winning an argument can be done on insincere grounds too ... And friendships may be shallow, because they are often given to others on the basis of having egos polished ... What is best is that wisdom is deployed to both have yourself heard by the other but at the same time no blood is spilt over it ...
You are very good at this ...TLK :)

If people think they win arguments on the internet they are as dumb as bricks. You win nothing on the internet. Everybody just loses.

... than winning friendship. Why?
And it happens so often on GS.
Do you work on winning friendship or winning an argument?
Also please tell. What do you like most about butterflies?

Never heard of this kind of pasta before. How does it taste ? Is it bland as all the other kind ?

Are you my secret admirer ?

Re: wining an argument is more important
Haw hai, I have always thought reading & re-reading YOUR own reply and waiting/whistling/baiting for reponses to YOUR own reply is the mantra on GS.
Ommmmm

Re: wining an argument is more important
Arguments or disagreements can be healthy. As long as one of the sides is not trolling.

Hey! I resemble that remark! :D
Re: wining an argument is more important
I dunno. I have never been good on arguments at least in real life. Maybe I am a bit more verbal here on GS but on the whole I like having a discussion but nothing messy as DA said. I give my opinion and then bail out.
Arguments should never come on the cost of a friendship.
