Bought it on DVD today and installed it successfully on my desktop…now I am going to install it on my lappy…Initial impressions: Very impressive…atleast the graphics are very nice. I also liked the fact that it automatically detected most of the drivers and my router settings. In XP I had to configure my TCP/IP every time I did a clean install.
Intel Centrino Duo T2400
1.00 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 (128MB)
120GB HD
Right now I am on getting a 2.6 WEI on my desktop primarily due to my Video card. I’ll probably get a new card for it this summer…something that fulfils the Vista requirements.
ok. I am off. When I post again, hopefully I’ll be using Windows Vista. Wish me luck
B/w: any tips for new Vista users? I dont mind tweaking my OS here and there.
yoohooo here i am…my laptop is officially Windows Vista Ultimate…NICE!
yeah and its faster than my AMD…3.3 on WEI. Its kinda sad cuz I always root for the underdog. But mad props to Intel for such a brilliant processor…my lappy indeed feels faster than my desktop and there isnt much between them in terms of specs…both dual core, both 1 gb ram, both 120 GB HD, both 128MB NVIDIA card ..in fact my desktop is 2200Mhz and lappy 1800Mhz.
TofiBaba: Could u shed some light on what kinda features I am missing cuz of my less than required video card? I can see the cool 3D flip…so what am i missing?
vista ultimate is running fine on my laptop which is 3 years old, has an intel builtin vga card, an intel P4 2.0 GHz processor (not centrino or mobile), 1 GB RAM and a 40 GB h/disk....
ofcourse the wei is only 1.0 because it wud be silly to expect anything higher....
i did not buy it, am using a pirated copy with the activation time delay trick....
installed it in december and i still got 26 days to actiavte it (well its been 26 days from the past 10 days) :p
it runs fine if office and internet is all u have got to do....
some programs dont run on it well....
adobe reader does not even install unless u run it in win xp compatibility mode....
and yahoo messenger wont run voice chat for some strange unknown reason....
My laptop has a 128MB card…but Vista says it has a dedicated card of 64MB and a total graphic memory of 319MB. Whats going on. Same for my desktop…it says Vista has 300MB+ of total graphics memory but it detects the card correctly at 128MB
anyone of u guys tried dreamscenes on Vista Ultimate…you’ll need some powerful processor for it but does it add some bling bling to the PC or what…NICE :snooty:
What’s the hype with the Vista all really about? Sure the cascading windows look cool, but couldn’t you do something similar in xp? Infact, I think xp does a decent job. I’m not the tacky type of guy. Give me my windows, and thats all. I dont want to roll through them.
Seems most people are switching over for reasons they can fulfill in XP. I wont be forking over my 500 dollars until I necessarily have to…or if I get a free copy from work :D!
hskhan, the user experience in Vista is a lot different than XP and none of the Vista themes come close to the real deal. I just migrated from XP to Vista and I am never going back.
