Looks so unprofessional, it looks to me that its designed for the teens by the teens.
Productivity is not about having some tiles sitting on the screen that could take you to social networking sites or widgets.
And who was the idiot who thought that a vertical standing monitor can be controlled by finger touches. i know that touch screen is an option but still, that is such a useless feature. I mean try running a MS Excel worksheet through touch screen. That will give you CTS in one week.
It is so sad that Microsoft got influenced by Andorid and iOS visuals and dumped a very nice GUI in favor of the Metro look.
They slated windows 7 too before launch, and look it is great. Microsoft release “inbetween” OS like Vista to cash in on business users (they knew it was crap). Then released W7 to tidy up and cash in again. They make double profits.
Windows 8 reminds me of Microsoft’s Bob. They tried to come up with simple user interface for the non-tech users and failed. I see that happening again.
I am actually surprised that Microsoft did not learn from the failure of Windows phone that has the same tile based OS and now going ahead with the full blown version of that same os for the PC’s
With metro style applications they are trying to make it equally usable on a desktop and any other device with windows 8. You won’t have to write entirely new application for a different device . I think its too early to estimate what Microsoft is up to .
