Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

Yup cool :D Doesnt duffer much from the beta I recon..

You may have heard that Windows 7 will include an optional “XP Mode” (essentially, a copy of Virtual PC running XP), to maintain compatibility. However, be careful what hardware you try to use it on; the CPU requires AMD-V or Intel-VT to work. Pretty much all modern AMD processors have the support, but the Intel chips vary widely (including some of the quad-cores which don’t have it).

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

I have Windows 7 installed on one of my computers, but run Vista on my laptop… i hope Microsoft will offer a cheap upgrade to Vista users :emmy:

Not very likely. Upgrades will be available for new laptops from somewhere in august/september this year.

Wiseguy: Virtualisation isnt really for consumers. But it should be fun to test it

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

I dl the RC but I cannot install the Adobe Flash Player Plugin for Firefox! Anyone knows how to get around this problem?

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

No one?

get Hackint0sh .. much better ... it worth more then anything in windows 7 or vista ... specially ilife - iphoto .. simply wowoowwo ..

There isn't any problem with Adobe Flash Player on Win 7, Go to the adobe page on Firefox, click get flash player, select the Firefox, Opera, Safary Version and download, close firefox and install.

P.S: Am using Windows 7 RC and Firefox 3.0.10 (Flash player version 10,0,22,87) from 25th may.

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

^

it's not working for me

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

i heard windows 7 is even faster than xp and its in beta stage

so the final product would be way better
is that correct ?

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

of course

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

Bigboi, you might want to click on "Manual Install" when the plugin tries to install automatically it and if it fails you.

Try that if you haven't already. I have not had any such problem though.

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

Last night installed Windows 7 and VISTA 64 bit, to compare it with, on a new harddisk.

Windows 7 took lesser time in installation and was also quicker to boot. BOTH windows didn't recognise my cohiba 3887 wireless adaptor; which is annoying. Apart from that no other issue with installation.

I tried it on Athlon XP 64 5000 dual core processor. 4GB RAM and 750GB harddisk.
overall system runs faster on Windows 7 (hey they all do after 1st installation) Lets see how it behaves after some time.

Shut down was quicker too in windows 7.
Today I am buying a new WiFi adaptor, which supports 64 bit operating system. Lets see how it goes.

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

Xeno, did you run into any display problems at all? I haven’t gone back to trying Win7 again because everytime install it, just before loading for the first time, my monitor goes out of range. :bummer:

It loads just fine in Vista.

I’ve tried safe mode, lowered resolution, nothing worked. Except when i hooked up another monitor, it loaded just fine w/out any problems.

Any suggestions? Older monitor maybe the cause you think?

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

No I didn't run into this problem! what type the old monitor is? is it CRT or flate pannel?
plug some other monitor and from display/monitor settings change resolution to defaults (60Hz refresh rate for LCD & standard resolution 800x600) Restart the computer with OLD monitor and see if it works.

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

It's a 17 inch LCD. But i think it maybe 2+ years old now.

Okay, i don't remember if i did the second part, i will try it. Thanks. I just remember lowering the settings on it after booting into Vista, then trying Win7 again but it didn't work. I'll try and do the same with a diff monitor, and then boot on this one again.

Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate
