Re: Windies V India
Ha ha ha. Kohli out.
Re: Windies V India
If WI win this match...they both are in th QF... :D
And then the contest for the QF place will be between Pakistan & Ireland.
Re: Windies V India
India is not losing this, but in a way it is good. Good that our lower order gets some practice.
Re: Windies V India
2 freehits for 0 runs... :D
4 down
Re: Windies V India
This is exactly what pakistaned needed, India to beat WI but not too badly.
Re: Windies V India
Ind 132/5 (29 overs)
Re: Windies V India
India should win
sometimes low scoring matches are more entertaining
Re: Windies V India
136/6
India require another 47 runs with 4 wickets and 19.4 overs remaining
Re: Windies V India
3 freehits for 0 runs sofar... :D
Re: Windies V India
So the close match not gonna help pk nrr ie not gonna lower wi nrr below pk
Pak get a slight NRR bump to stagger into 3rd place. But if SA is on form as it has been and we play the form we are in, expect that to not last passed tomorrow. Le sigh

Why is that?
Well, as long as WI do not blow themselves up by loosing to UAE, WI is certain to qualify. WI do not need to care about run rate with Pakistan to qualify. If Pak and WI both qualify (Pak beats Ireland and also end up with higher run rate than Ireland), then run rate would decide which team would be 3rd in the pool, that is all. If Pak loses to Ireland than WI would be 4th in pool below Ireland.
WI competition is to keep their run rate above Ireland (assuming that SA beats Pak, India wins against Ireland and Ireland wins against Zimbabwe). As things are, I doubt if Ireland would be able to beat WI on run rate.
Re: Windies V India
Looks like the Indian team was asked to make this match entertaining :D
Re: Windies V India
India win thanks to the bowlers and 'Mr Cool' Dhoni
Re: Windies V India
India tried their best to lose the game, but WI is so pathetic....
Re: Windies V India
jazbati logo, India are a very good ODI side because of their strong batting. Teams have pressure, pressure of knowing that they need to score close to 300 every time in order to challenge the strong Indian batting. That pressure often induces mistakes from batsmen. Gayle, after the loss of those two early wickets then needed to bat sensibly for the next 20 overs or so but he let the anger and frustration get to him. A player like him can change the game in 5 overs let alone 40 odd overs. In tests you have no such pressure of run rate. You can take your time to tame the trundlers.
In ODIs you don't need to take all ten wickets. Hence bowlers who know how to contain (Mohinder Amarnath or Mudassar Nazar type bowlers although the latter was also famous for breaking difficult partnerships in tests) often do well.
During the recent test series in Australia, India batted well but time and again bowlers failed to finish off the innings. On many occasions Australia's last 5 scored more runs than the top 5! There is a reason why India have lost 11 of the last 12 tests in Australia and England; bowling just not good enough for swing and seam conditions imo.
India's bowling is adequate for ODis and I would maintain that even if they go on to win the world cup.
I didn't claim India had a dominant attack. Nowadays the tail wags all over. And between batting and bowling the latter performed worse. Far worse.
In spite of the India should have won the 1st Test but for consistently poor decisions one way. (Drs is another discussion and I have stated india should go with it)
