Windies cruise to victory
**First Test, Dhaka, day three:
West Indies 536 beat Bangladesh 139 & 87 by an innings and 310 runs **
Bangladesh suffered their heaviest defeat since joining the ranks of the Test-playing nations two years ago as the West Indies seam attack bowled them to victory with three days to spare.
Paceman Jermaine Lawson returned the remarkable figures of six for three as the home side were bowled in just 31.5 overs in their second innings.
West Indies captain Ridley Jacobs had earlier missed out on a third Test hundred earlier in the day when he was left unbeaten on 91 as his side were all out for 536 after adding 136 for their last five wickets.
Bangladesh made a reasonable start in reply, putting 30 on the board before Drakes struck twice in the space of five deliveries.
Hannan Sarkar was first to go, caught by Ganga for 25, and Drakes then bowled Mohammed Ashraful for nought.
Drakes followed up by removing Anwar Hossain for 12, but it was the dismissal of Habibul Bashar for 22 by left-armer Pedro Collins which sparked a spectacular collapse.
From 80 for three, they lost their last seven wickets for seven runs in the space of five overs, with the batsmen having no answer to Lawson’s pace and accuracy.
Three of his victims were bowled, including last man Talha Jubair, two were lbw, and Enamul Haque was caught behind by Jacobs - all in the space of 15 deliveries.
It was Bangladesh’s 15th defeat in 16 Tests and coach Mohsin Kamal now has a major task to rebuild the morale of his players ahead of the second Test in Chittagong.
