Windfall for Indian Players

I was just trying to calculate the total direct and indirect prize for the winning Indian team. So far half a million from tournament and 2 million from BCCI.
Also a chance to win 5million next year for one single game.
I also heard that govt is giving all the players a house and a car. on top of that all the state govts are giving some good cash to their players.
It might not sound a lot for an international world cup but for the players from poor family its a like a lucky lottery.
Joginder’s dad runs a paan ki dukan, i know both pathan bros and bhajji are also from poor family.
its raining money people..

Johannesburg: There was a windfall for the Indian cricket team after it lifted the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 cricket tournament beating Pakistan in the final here on Monday.
BCCI president Sharad Pawar, who was present on the occasion, declared an award of $2 million after Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s boys won the nail-biting encounter by five runs in front of a boisterous, tricolour waving crowd.
Another one crore rupees was announced for batting mainstay Yuvraj Singh for becoming the first batsman to hit six sixes in an over in the shorter version of the game.
Yuvraj, who had been firing on all cylinders in the tournament, made the record by whacking Stuart Broad in the Super Eight match against England.
Besides, the tournament prize money of $490000 further swelled the purses of the India players. — PTI

Re: Windfall for Indian Players

As if the Indian players needed any more money...

Re: Windfall for Indian Players

And India might skip the $5 million Stanford 20/20 tournament because BCCI doesn't like to play in private tournaments. If India doesn't go, then Australia will be invited.

Re: Windfall for Indian Players

money + proof to the world that Indians are superior to Pakistanis.

Re: Windfall for Indian Players

i think they should skip this offer too. no point in playing for cash prize. thats low. its just 5 million..
well on the second thoughts they can also send a second team ;)
