It is against the rules ehsan for the point to be replayed, mere bhai. Roddick returned the volley didn't he? He didn't stop playing.
DAY 5 ROUND-UP:
Observing the favourites in the Ladies' Singles in the first week of The Championships is normally like watching express trains - they stop for nothing and roll over everyone in their path.
This year is no exception, and after three rounds and five days of competition Venus Williams, Kim Clijsters and Lindsay Davenport are yet to be seriously extended.
Davenport had a stutter in the first round, but served big today to dismiss the handy Zimbabwean Cara Black 6 2, 6 2. Beset by injuries in recent years, the tall American does not play with the same confidence as when she won Wimbledon in 1999 but her game remains several notches higher than most and cannot be discounted going into the second week of the Fortnight.
Clijsters and Williams were even more impressive. The Belgian has dropped just seven games in her three matches this week, today dispatching an outclassed Samantha Reeves 6 1, 6 2.
Williams beat the hard hitting Russian Nadia Petrova, a potentially dangerous opponent, by the same scoreline, and looked close to the form that carried her to the Wimbledon crown in 2000 and 2001.
Her immediate task, however, is one of seeking revenge her fourth round opponent, Vera Zvonareva, is the woman who knocked her out of the French Open a month ago. The Russian baseliner will be playing only her sixth tour match on grass and seems unlikely to repeat her Paris upset.
The only shock of the day was Chandra Rubin's defeat to Silvia Farina Elia on No.1 Court. The number seven seed never really found to her rhythm in their rain-affected match, and eventually lost 6-7 (6-8), 3-6 to a composed and consistant Farina Elia.
In the Gentlemen's Singles, the leading contenders in the top half of the draw moved into the last 16, perhaps mindful that a place in the final could be theirs now that Lleyton Hewitt is out of the tournament.
Andy Roddick, who hass yet to drop a set in this year's event, today accounted for the highly talented Spaniard Tommy Robredo in three tight stanzas, thanks to his booming serve and bristling all court play.
A semi-final confrontation between Roddick and Roger Federer still looks on the cards after Federer overcome a mid-watch wobble against Mardy Fish to win in four sets, 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, in a match affected by rain interruptions.
Elsewhere, the tall Dutchman Sjeng Schalken, a quarter finalist at Wimbledon last year, crushed the Romanian lucky loser Victor Hanescu. Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan comfortably dealt with the challenge raised by the 17 year old Spanish prodigy Rafael Nadal Parera, and Ivo Karlovic, the 6' 10" Croatian qualifier who emerged from obscurity to topple Hewitt on Monday, was beaten by a man with a serve almost as big: the 6' 5" Belarussian Max Mirnyi.
Also out is the veteran crowd favourite, Todd Martin of the United States, who fell in five sets to Germany's Rainer Schuettler. It was his 14th time that he played a five set match at SW19, one short of Roger Taylor's Wimbledon record.
Just watched the match between Younes El Aynaoui v Andre Agassi.
Agassi won it 3 sets to 1 but the scoreline does not justify how close this match was. The last two sets went to tie break and both times Agassi won the tie break 7 points to 4.

re to earlier post, ... greg rusedski isn't a brit, he is a canadian by birth but took up british citizenship in 1995 to represent great britian, thus he is classed as a brit.
- i'm loving the wimbledon championships so far and i'm so glad andre agassi is out as his exit has opened up the draw/tournament for tim henman i think henmania will conquer this year he has a better chance.

Is there such a thing.
Isn’t the game where as soon as the action starts they forget about the ball and start punching each other called American football. ![]()
