William Shatner Still Wants 'Star Trek' Movie Cameo - Should He Get It?

We like William Shatner, but we’re not afraid to admit he can be a pompous and crotchety old man, prone to throwing temper tantrums.

He caused a stink during the production ofJ.J. Abrams’ 2009 blockbuster revamp of ‘Star Trek,’](Star Trek (2009) - Movie | Moviefone)because he didn’t get a cameo, while ‘Original Series’ co-star Leonard Nimoy did. Abrams explained: “We actually had written a scene with him in it that was a flashback kind of thing, but the truth is, it didn’t quite feel right. The bigger thing was that he was very vocal that he didn’t want to do a cameo. We tried desperately to put him in the movie, but he was making it very clear that he wanted the movie to focus on him significantly.”

So Shatner didn’t get his way, while ‘Star Trek’ went on to become one of the biggest movies of that year. And now that Abrams’ is getting ready to begin filming ‘Star Trek 2,’](Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) - Movie | Moviefone) will Shatner slip silently into the humble night, without even making a peep?
