I personally would. I find the Shia/Sunni divide absurd. Yea there are some differences but as long as you believe in One God and the messenger, next to that ones character should be more important than nitty gritty details.
Also, I am excluding all hardcore people on both sides when I state the above.
I would. Would also marry an ismaili and maybe an ahmadi, mom may have a big problem though.
I wouldn’t. Nothing against anyone and I have friends from all sects which I am close to.
I think there are some distinct differences which would make it hard to us to be able to raise kids without conflict and disagreement.

its works only if both don’t really give a $hit about details of religious practice…if they do even a little bit…there is bound to be drama later on.

I know some sunni girls who married with shia men. Love stories ofcourse. It ended up their susral trying to convert them and if they dont convert, convert the kids. Poor kids go awefully confused. Eventually life becomes hell.

Hm… As long as I remember, shia/Sunnis both are muslims. So where’s the problem? If both are balanced muslims & not hardlined crazies then I see no problem with that.

It all depends upon how conservative each side is or even one-side.
For example if they are very much openminded they may even be ok with a inter-faith marriage. There are so many marriages with the “ehl-e-Kitab” partners and work out really fine. Why? Cuz nobody pushes the other person to change or most of the times they arent very religious themselves either to be honest.
Same can work with shia-sunni marriages. But it doesnt when they marry just for the sake of marriage and then try to be a hardcore person of faith or push their spouse or the kids to be the one.

I told my boys if they find good women they should convert to whatever she believes in, I think Shia women are better looking. I was talking to my best Jewish buddy and his children are Catholics and he was saying in Jewish tradition children follow mom’s faith. In the end, love is the key. Why can’t children practice two faiths?
I don’t subscribe to blame others for our own shortcomings and all for nations, groups individuals taking accountability for their own actions, the top Muftis from KSA calling for the genocide of shias are personally accountable for what they are preaching and that society is accountable for not confronting them and following them. People who are silent are complicit also. Shias are a minority and cannot be genocidal towards Sunnis. The biggest evil on the planet right now is the Saudis and their supporters.

I didn’t know about Saudi muftis calling for genocide of shias. I have not been keeping up with news lately but if that’s true then Saudi muftis are heading towards wrong path. I don’t know why those muftis are allowed to do that by Saudi government. I read a long time ago that back in the 80s some Iranian leader had urged Muslim leaders of all the countries to beware of the conspiracy of the enemy to cause fight between major Muslim groups, make them kill & burn eachother. I think now after 40 years, if muslims have failed to do anything about it then it’s a failure of muslims. I know its very easy to cause fights between people on the basis of religion, nationality, ethnicity, color but calling out for genocide is very dangerous. I wonder what those the shias have done to bring Saudi muftis to this. I really think wiser leaders of both communities must sit & reconcile their differences cool headedly. We are also going through a period where Israel is all set to take the super power status from America. They have acquired all the Palestinian land & basically control the entire Muslim world. They are running various muslim terrorists groups with some Israeli as their 'Ameer & all the stupid muslims joining those terror groups to fight ‘jihad’… for Israel. As per the analysts & religious scholars, Israel will assume the super power status sooner or later. Because only after that will the anti Christ appear as the ruler of israel which Israel will regard as the messiah they’ve been waiting for. So I think for Saudia to believe that Iran is a problem is very foolish. And having a problem with Iran doesn’t mean they should call out sunnis to kill shias. How crazy is that… Besides, we are still 50 years or so before the state of israel taking up superpower status. How the world dynamics will change by then no one knows. I really don’t know what Saudi muftis are thinking.
Personally, as a Muslim, I support both the countries. And it makes me very sad knowing the Muslim leaders in authority are incapable of understanding the enemy’s conspiracy. Ultimately, it’s all the muslims that will suffer because of these fights.
Despite all the political shia/Sunni issues, shias are still muslims no denying that. Marriages between them must not be a problem. And such couples interested to marry must ban politics to avoid drowing their marriages.
A lot of Shias come from Iranian or some other ethnicities. We used to go to the Muharram jaloos to look at pretty girls.

No because it may not seem a problem right now, but I think religion would be a big part when kids come in to the equation.
