Fair assessment I think.
HOWEVER (you guys knew that was coming, right?)
A “declined” Sachin is still better than most batsmen in the world including India and Pakistan teams.
Who knows what other magic this dude is going to bring about in the next couple of years?
His 100 and 95 were the backbone of this ODI SERIES WIN…let’s us not forget that.
Yes, as he walks in to bat it may not (yet) make one shudder as it used to but lemme tell ya - when he walks out, we’re on our way to winning.
I’ll be the first one to stop building a God complex around him as we Indians tend to do too often but I think Sachin has a few more years of great performances left.
It would be a shame and cricket’s loss if that is not the case.

PS: How do you think we won this SERIES? Sachin the great, world's best, master blaster, batting supremo got 100 42 95 & 0 in the 4 ODIs. The 42 was especially important in that the 100+ opening partnership was a turning point necessary to shrug of the 1st ODI loss.

Well for all his success in the ODI series, I am pretty sure Sachin would trade all those runs for a just a single score in the Karachi test match. I am sure once Sachin starts winning/saving test matches for India again, then he will gain a lot of respect and confidence back. But ODI's are a good start.

some one who has started playing insternational cricket at the age of 16 and still there for past 17 years … confidence is not a issue …

don, I like the guy from the very first match as I was fortune enough to watch it in National Stadium Karachi, it was my debut in statdium too But he has been mysteriously playing since 2000, even some Indians agree to that. May be it looks like that because of Dravid/Yuvraj classic finishes in ODIs that over shadowed earlier efforts made by Tendilia, but if you see as soon he gets another 50 or 100 he tends to lose interest in staying on pitch and just throws away his wicket, instead of anchoring the innings till the end.

It's NOT fair to compare Inzi with Sachin. Inzi is the 'aaloo of cricket' , thelazy runner, the under-achiever. Sachin enjoyed a thousand times more reverence and affection from the crowd for thepast 17 years. He is the so called god in India. So, he will be measured on a higher pedestal. Scoring an odd 90 or hundred every 10th match is NOT enough for Sachin. Stop praising him next to Bradman and I will be more than satisfied with his odd century here and there.
He got alot more respect from us, the cricketing world than he deserved. We feel cheated.

its funny, some pakistanis are trying their best to appreciate tendi, which seems so fake, but the hatred is more apparent in some others, atleast its coming straight from their hearts.
