Will PCB still be Obsessed with Younis Khan, the ODI Player?

Sometimes it is hard to understand how PCB make ridiculous decisions considering that they are responsible for the control and operation of cricket in the country. Even the fans have more knowledge of the game as compared to these dope heads. One such example is PCB’s obsession with Younis Khan.

In the 5 ODIs against Australia, Younis scored 67 runs at an average of 13 with a strike rate of 48.

It was pretty evident prior to the Australian tour that Younis Khan was clearly struggling in the shorter version of the game. Sometimes players struggle while going through a bad patch in their career but then hit form again. Then there comes a phase when the bad patch persist and doesn’t end and as a player you need to decide when to quit.

The latter situation applies to Younis as he is not only struggling to score runs but frankly speaking his brief stays look miserable on the cricket pitch.

This is how he has scored since Jan 2009 in One day internationals.

Matches: 24
Runs: 487
Batting Avg: 20
Batting Strike Rate: 60
Half centuries: 2

He scored two useless half centuries against Srilanka in the 4th and 5th ODIs when Pakistan had already lost that series.

Apparently Younis cannot take a decision on what he wants to do with his future. I hope he realizes soon that he needs to just focus on test cricket if he wants to play for the remaining 3-4 years of his career.

I know performancs from other players are not too impressive in ODIs though they are still better than Younis. However lets talk about Younis in this thread.

Re: Will PCB still be Obsessed with Younis Khan, the ODI Player?

Its not just PCB, its Moyo too, while on tour game in NZ, he was very keen on getting misbah in side and played him in NZ and in AUS and while in Aus he was keen on getting YK in side.

In YK's case, Yousuf in my opinion has been trying to save his own behind by making sure he does favors to people who can pay him back once he loses series and captaincy.

Re: Will PCB still be Obsessed with Younis Khan, the ODI Player?

Yoyo had asked PCB to send him for the Test series but they didn’t send him telling him to gain form (show worthiness) in domestic games. We lost Test series 3-0. Then ODI series begins, Younis doesn’t do squat in domestic games suddenly PCB believes that he can do something magical in ODIs (which he has failed to do in prior 196 games) and sends him as ‘reinforcement’ :rotfl:

Its not just PCB chief, selector but our captain idiot too. We really need a major shake-up once the team gets back to home.

Re: Will PCB still be Obsessed with Younis Khan, the ODI Player?

Younis is just going through a bad patch just like other super stars go. Like they say form is temporary class is permanent. Younis is going through alot...he is confused. He will be back very soon on the top of rankings. Its just matter of time.

Re: Will PCB still be Obsessed with Younis Khan, the ODI Player?

Are you talking about Test or ODI? We know he is good for Test but not for ODIs.

Re: Will PCB still be Obsessed with Younis Khan, the ODI Player?

Younis should play test cricket, he must not be included in ODIs and T20 squad.

On the top...the mental and physical condition of a crickter at any given time...I would like to suggest the following age limits for the different formats:

-T20...max age 25 years

-ODIs...max age 30 years

-Test...max age 35 years

I'm talking about both...

None of us are experts here MWAP but I guess we all have seen enough cricket to know the difference between temporary bad patch and permanent bad patch. I don't remember temporary bad patch lasting for more than a year.
