We had a fantastic run-up to 1996 world cup. The team was full of superstars and it was that bad one off day which did injustice to a superb team and its form.
Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India, any one from them could make it final. India doesn't look strong engouh to sail all the way to the final. Sri Lanka is a dark horse.
Problem with Pakistan is that you cannot rule them out even they lose 1000 matches in a row. They are always full of fuel but always in need of proper spark. It is most difficult to predict about Pakistan.
Pakistan will make it to Semis. Too early to say if they will be in Final InshAllah.
Cricket is a game or uncertainties so we can't be sure who will be in the final.
For all possibilities, it can be WI and SA. Even though I along with others KK ppl hate to dream of not having Pak be a finalist.
Once you get into semis, then its any body's game. Although cricket is a team game, but ODI's are so fickle in nature that one bad umpiring decision, one stupid run out, one key wicket can swing the game decisively. Or a batsman can take the game away in 5 overs of unhampered hitting.
Pak, Ind, SL ... all have the capability to make it to semis. Which ones will actually go all the way to lose the final is just luck.
1992: Pakistan, who went on to win the cup
1996: SL, who also won the cup
1999: Paksitan, lost to Australia
2003: India, lost to Australia
Do you think a team from sub continent will make it to the finals again. If so, which one?
In the last 3 world cup finals one of the teams was Australia:
1996: Australia, lost to SL (held in SL, Pakistan, India)
1999: Paksitan, lost to Australia
2003: India, lost to Australia
and:
1987: Australia, won the WC (held in India, Pakistan)
1992: Pakistan, who went on to win the cup (held in Australia, NL)
and:
WI won 2 consecutive World-Cups before they lost 3rd final to India.
Now Aus have won 2 straight World-Cups and you want some sub-continent team in final???

As usual you missed the point by a mile. Read my post again and than try to reply.
Ehsan bhai, read the post again and get your answer.
Aus won in India, Pak.
Pak won in Aus, NL.
India ended the golden run of WI by beating them in a single game, and (provided the fitness of both squads) Pak can repeat that with Aus.
Akhter is the best bowler to play this tournament and Symonds is the best ODI player (bat, ball, field). No other team will enter this tournament with a better bowler than Akhter or with a better ODI player than Symonds.
So, if Symonds and Akhter win their battle(s) against injuries, then this WC can be a battle amongst them. The one of the two to deliver his best (and with some support from his team) is likely to lift the trophy for his country.
Otherwise neither Aus (without Symonds) nor Pak (without Akhter) has the potential, aggression and the fighting-spirit to win this WC.
So the other teams are.....(and SL, BD and India can still make it to final from the sub-continent.)
