for a girl to call a guy’s family member and talk with them at first?
Re: Will it be appropriate
^ autumn, didn't you discuss the same matter like a couple of days back?
Re: Will it be appropriate
but it wasn't this topic :)
Re: Will it be appropriate
Yes i do,why?And I did get their opinions :)
Re: Will it be appropriate
Good for you :k:
Re: Will it be appropriate
Why do you want to call the guy's member of family, just out of interest?
And worry not...if you don't have any friends, Jaanwar is ready to become your new best friend! Hehehehe! :)

Re: Will it be appropriate
Why do you want to call them? Do you have parents who can get involved? If not, then a relative, family member, elder brother, sister, etc.
You're the LAST person they need to be in contact with...remember that.
Re: Will it be appropriate
Maybe she wants talk her MIL in the hope to find a new best friend! :)
Re: Will it be appropriate
^ Iggle, I know what you mean and wish Aunties weren't so judgemental but they are.
Unfortunately, our desi society views a girl who takes initiative in these matters as "forward" or "advanced" and start talking badly about her.
Re: Will it be appropriate
When I call my guy’s mom, my mom has a problem:naraz: She thinks I like her more:smack:

Re: Will it be appropriate
Jaanwar,
They actually dont have any reason to. Hopefully, you're just trying to have a discussion and dont mean that. :)
The girls in my family are super independant. We went to school, had jobs, supported ourselves, etc. My dad always told us to do anything we felt like doing - within limits of course.
But when I started getting rishtas, my mom told me to be quiet, shy and reserved. I was not to speak to the people directly unless spoken to and never initiate a conversation. In the beginning, I messed up. I talked, chatted and was social with these people. I viewed them as guests simply over for dinner and I was doing my part of being entertaining. THEY didnt see it quite the same way.
Some girls simply dont know what the protocol is and you cant blame them for wanting to make a good impression or trying to get to know the family. Its a big risk for BOTH sides.
Re: Will it be appropriate
Bon - I'll get to it in a while.
Re: Will it be appropriate
^ Awww...what a cutesy little reply you have there.
Since I dont want to be held responsible for GS's first brain freeze...how about you dont?
Re: Will it be appropriate
^ thats a premature celebration.
One could be occupied with something else, but then whatever makes you happy.
Re: Will it be appropriate
Celebration..............?
Anyway, the point is AUTUMN...try not to call yourself.
Re: Will it be appropriate
I'm glad you got the point (I hope).
