Will it be alright if a girl goes with some of her close friends to meet a guy’s family for the first time ever? What kind of impression does it create?
Re: Will it be alright?
Timeless_Beauty,
Please go with your parents to see a guy's family. In desi culture, it's the most respectable thing to do especially if you're checking the guy out for marriage purposes. If you're parents are unavailable, then please go with elders from your family such as uncles and aunts or grandparents (not cousins). You need elders. If you go with your friends or peers of your age group......then it has the potential to result in gossip. In desi culture, you will be considered bold and shameless to come with only your friends. And God Forbid....what if the guy's family treats you disrespectfully or spreads rumors about you..........Having your parents with you will prevent these problems from occurring. Your parents/elders can protect you and defend your honor in case any problems arise from the guy's family due to his jealous mom or jealous sisters.
So, please, for your own safety and reputation....go with your parents/family elders. Plus, your friends are most likely the same age as you and they don't have the wisdom that your parents have. If your parents go with you, they can give you an idea about whether the guy and his family are a good match for you or not.....because they have the experience/wisdom with these things.

lose friends!!
Re: Will it be alright?
I don't see the harm in it but then everyone's thinking is different.
I think that it is best to go with your parents. If you want to see him without parents but not alone, take your siblings in with you. If you don't have siblings or close cousins then I don't see the harm in taking one of your close friends with you.
:)
Re: Will it be alright?
If your parents or other elders (pardon my language but not the typical a-hole aunts and uncles that are a must in every family) are available, why would you want to go with your friends instaed? It is better if you go with your parents or other family elders.

^Siblings are a good idea as well if you want to meet him without parents but not alone.
When it comes to an official/formal meeting for potential marriage purposes....then your parents need to be there with you to check out the guy and his family before making any final decisions.
Re: Will it be alright?
Go with mom and dad...otherwise aunt or uncle...otherwise a family friend...an elder brother or sister who is married...
No one who is your age.
For reasons, look at RedVelvet's first post. She is right.
