New cheaper, smaller version of the Wii being released. It looks cute, but is there any point as there are no new Wii games being released.

Re: Wii Mini
If it's cheaper, they can still make money off it. Those who haven't picked up a Wii yet just might at a lower price point. I believe that worked with the PSOne and PStwo.
Re: Wii Mini
^ I guess so but still the fact that they are no longer releasing Wii games is a down point to buying it.
Re: Wii Mini
That depends on how important it is for you to play the latest games. Whether they're making new games or not, existing ones are still available, and significantly discounted, compared to what they launched for. So for someone who hasn't experienced Wii, this is a good opportunity.
Re: Wii Mini
^ Yeah, I guess so. Lets see how well it sells.
Re: Wii Mini
It’s the cheapest iteration of the Wii, but it also lacks a lot of features. It doesn’t have Wifi (i.e. virtual console and other Wii channels) and no backward compatibility with Gamecube games. So the only people whom it could really be worth the purchase for would be those people who only want to play Wii on disc games and don’t want to go online with their console. Either that, or someone who is uninformed about it.
Here’s a joystiq article about it:

I am planning to sell my Nintendo WII, bought it 2 years ago, haven’t even used it much.
