Hello hello:waves:
I am using wi-tribe at home in Lahore. Don’t get any signals on ground floor. Wi-tribe modem and WiFi router are on upper story. Wi-tribe signals are fine but WiFi signals are very weak on ground floor. Need recommendations for a range extender. Using tenda access point which is total tunda:bummer:
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
i don't know if anybody knows that please share.
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
DMD bhai are you looking for something that could be bought in Pakistan or can you get them from here?
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
Can you use Ethernet cable?
Khan bhai: if you guys can give me some good names I'll try to find them in Lahore.
Mahool: that'll be messy mess.
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
DMD bhai: Here is one: Amazon.com: ASUS RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router: Computers & Accessories
Here is the comment from one of the users on the signal: “As far as an accurate distance , I haven’t put a tape measure to it . However I can tell you my home is two story , 3500 sq. Ft . , the router sits downstairs approximately center in the home and it reaches all parts with no problem . I even get a signal outside for a good distance . It is stronger than my netgear wndr3500 . …hope this helps”
What they are saying about this one is that it covers upstairs downstairs scenario better than all the others so that you will not need an extender. The thing about extenders (I need one as well) is that they start with a 50% signal lost so the output they will provide will be at a loss which kind of negates the whole idea of the extender. I have a different model of this asus router and will put it up hardwired to the one I have (I have the gateway router from Xfinity which sucks and cant provide proper WiFi outside of my room where the router is).
:k:
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
its going to be less frustrating to just use a long ethernet cable + another AP on the ground floor. extenders etc. might not play nice once you start having more devices and traffic on the network.
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
Ok. Here is what I did just after I posted above. I took out my Asus RT-56U and hooked it up next to the Xfinity gateway and started connecting all my devices to it. Surprisingly its holding good connections all over the place, even at the other end of my home.
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
With Wi-Fi you lose 40%of the speed. Listen to what queer said.

Sometimes not an option NaMaan.
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
We got one - sucked. We got another sucked as well.
Went the ethernet route.
Decided to go with eth cable+AP.
Thank you all.
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
You are lucky dude. If I tried to run a cable through the house or through outside, it causes more problems for me on the home front than anything else. My wife hates wires.....
Re: WIFI Range Extenders
