Can someone please dumb down the instructions to getting a wifi connection on an i-touch? PLEEEEEASEEEE! I’ve been banging my head against the wall for the past 2 weeks trying to figure this stuff out but its just not working for me
sabriya...i dont know if itouch wifi is similar to the iphone wifi, i just enable wifi, search for networks and connect, since it is password protected, it asked for password teh first time and now I am set, i disable wifi when i am not using it to save on battery.
x2 when I go to my settings, it says wi-fi and next to it, it says on... but every single network has a lock on it.... I dont have a password.. where do I get one from? When I go to the internet...(safari) it says safari cant open the page because it cant find the server.
you are connected, but the connection providers available around you have secured networks. that why you see the locks .
either wait for an insecure network to pop up, or get an account with a wifi provider. or move to an area where free wifi is accessible.
seems like you're trying to go online with no internet subscription and/or wireless router of your own. get a data plan, go to someplace with free wifi or get internet/wireless router for yourself.
everything from A-Z…ur trying to access networks that are not free to use and you on the other hand have no service of your own. get one and then have mojain on ur i-touch…
You already have u'r linksys router ... it means u r using WIFI/Wireless internet already. Are you? ... means how u r accessing internet now?
Anyways i m assuming that u have internet at home and u wana use that Wireless internet on u'r i-touch. I really don't know what are the settings in i-touch, but they must hve some options for network. If it is showing u all the networks in u'r area, than select the network that u have at u'r home. Once selected it will ask for a 'Key'. This is secure key to access u'r wireless network. You must have used the same key with u'r home computer, if it is using wireless too. Enter that key in there and inshaAllah it will start working.
If this is not the case than post again and we will try to solve u'r problem.
Folks, she has an iPod Touch, not an iPhone. Her device has no phone in it, so there is no way she can just get a "data plan" and be all set. Some times you techie whiz kids make me roll up my eyes with your clueless and over-anxious put downs.
Sabriya, your iPod Touch can connect to internet using a wireless WiFi connection. If you intend to use this feature in your home then you will need to have highspeed internet access in your home AND install a WiFi accesspoint. From a cost stand point, it is barely a $50 investment, but if you are not familiar with how to set it up, you may want to get a friend or a professional to help you with it. If you already have a wireless set up in your home, then it is likely secured too (by whoever set it up) and you will need to get that passkey so you can enter it in your iPod before you can begin to use it. Check from whoever had set up or manages your home net work.
When you are out and about and want to connect to internet on your iPod Touch, you'll have to find a free/open WiFi location. This is the one which shows no lock next to it in the WiFi list on your device.
