Wife Swap Culture Clash!

I hate reality TV. I dont watch it but this one caught my eye. It does teach you a lot. Watch and it and discuss. I have a feeling only UK viewers might only be able to view it. Its a programme called Wife Swap and I am not sure if you ll find it on youtube but do type in “wife swap culture clash”.

The muslim family come across as very middle class - kindof more like the stiff upper lip Brits.

Its a good episode on parenting in a way!

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

hmmmmmmmmmm…very starnge experience. Watching through this show, I was going this :smack:

this :bummer:

,this

and this :rotfl:

I used to know the daughters from the muslim family, they went to the same primary and secondary school as me! I saw this a while back....maybe 3/4 years ago.

I hate this programme, it's so contrived. Of course they had to pick a strict muslim family to wife swap with a family that has a homosexual daughter.

That being said, I don't exactly agree with the way either of the family lives.

I think that Muslim family was trying to make themselves look extra strict(holier than thou).....this is how most muslims act when they're around non-muslims.

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

is this the same?

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

^ yeah its the same farrah.

yes it is.

it looks very contrived in a way. of course it has to be. the whole porgramme makes the muslim family look so controlled. i know families much stricter than this. i got the feeling the mother is very abrupt harsh and unemotional or maybe thats because of the camera? she came across as very accusatory and judged the white mother too much. they left a big improvement on the white family hiousehold. sad thing is her own household has probably began to rebel.

why did the white mother have to take them on a "different" kind of fun? could nt she just take them on a different type of outing?

what sort of mother was that muslim lady - she was not even teaching her kids to help her out. i think most asian moms would at least expect the daughters to help out. that husband is so damn lazy! i think he wasactign macho for the cameras. he expected his wife to do the DIY?

what sort of people were they to agree to this type of intrusive programme?

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

it was sad to watch this ... going to an atheist household and beginning every sentence with "oh but in islam we ..." would be irritating to the family ... it would be irritating to anyone if someone tried to constantly rub their belief onto you. regardless of talking of a reigious belief, or a materialist belief. the muslim family was too rigid.

on the other hand .. the athiest household lacked principles and the "us" time. its the exact individualist western lifesstyle that we're always attacking and complaining about. it was too casual in there; everything.

anyhow ... it were extreme families that were a requirement of the show, which would otherwise have been pretty much bland. :D

too bad that it inflicted negative change in the muslim household (for their liking)
but luckily it had a positive change on the athiest family (for a better image of muslims :))

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

stupid muslim family. Where in sharia is it allowed to SWAP WIVES! Damn, such a stupid show, pathetic of the muslim family to stoop to so low.

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

^All above! My thoughts exactly.

It was very stupid of the Muslim family to agree to participate in this show in the first place. And why did the father first agreed to let his kids go with the white woman but then he decided not to?

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

whyyy did they choose to be in a swap show and show such weird attitude like "i wont eat in this house cuz he was drinking alcohol at the same time as making dinner"

on a second note ... are there really people who do this? i mean, you go to someone's house but refuse to eat or drink becuz alcohol is the norm in that household? you chose to go there willingly ...

p.s. i dont mind them participating in the show though. the woman didnt cross an sharia boundaries since she wasnt sleeping in their house. also was not alone with the other's husband at any time. the crew was there always :D

^ did the show mention she wasn't sleeping in the house? I must have missed it...where did she stay then?

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

This is just stupid!

I’m so making my parents watch this :omg:

when she arrived at their house, she excused herself, quoting her religion of how she isnt allowed to do so. therefore, she stayed the nights in a hotel.

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

BUT....BUT....BUT....she is saying again n again " in islam we dont do this we dont do that" how come she didnt mention in islam women is NOT allowed to talk or meet any na mohram??

Re: Wife Swap Culture Clash!

The gora family loved the Paki food though.
