FAISALABAD: The wife of one of two youths gunned down by a US government employee Raymond Davis in Lahore on Jan 27 committed suicide on Sunday.
Shumaila Kanwal, wife of Faheem Ahmed, took insecticides in the morning and was brought to Allied Hospital where she died a little before midnight. Hospital official Prof Zahid Yasmeen Hashmi confirmed her death.
When she was brought to the hospital, Ms Kanwal told newsmen that she had decided to end her life in protest against “favourable treatment being accorded to the killer of her husband by police and reports that he will be set free”. Read More
My Comments:
Raymond Allan Davis must be prosecuted for quadruple murders now.
It's a bit surprising to me that she would commit the most desperate act because she was not getting justice, when actually events are unfolding even today. Nothing has been decided at this moment, so there is no question of justice or no justice yet. But she still was SO convinced of POSSIBLE injustice that she killed herself?!
The time to commit suicide would be when Davis is let go.
I think this suicide needs to be investigated. But if what is reported is really true then it is very unfortunate.
I blame bollywood how many times have we seen dramatic suicide minded heros and heroines on the screen. Crappy stuff happens, life goes on. On a random side note did you know India has the highest suicide rate of any country?
I think someone could have killed her and make it look like a suicide.....
not everything is a conspiracy :)...why is it so hard to believe that this lady could have committed this desperate act under intense black-mail by US (and Pak) authorities
This is whats so sad about people. A grief stricken widow is dead, yet jagoffs are coming up with conspiracy theories.
May her soul find peace.
You may be right but it was not a suicide for the sake of Justice. Her love with her husband could be a cause. May be her simplicity could not provide her the proper words.
However I can not take side of such suicide .It was a 'Haram "

Where did I say that it was for justice? I didn't comment on her motivations but the reality that this women is dead directly or indirectly due to Davis murdering her husband. And then we have people from the peanut gallery making up conspiracy theories about someone killing her.

Killing is so common here that we are always afraid of it.
People think it the easiest way to get rid of one.
I have seen about one hundred murders in my area from a land mafia during last ten years. Will you believe?
So we are so always thinking of conspiracies.

Well that might true but the bottom line is that Raymond Davis has the blood of 4 people on his hands: the 2 he murdered, 1 that was run over by the Consulate Van, and this widow.
