wierdest ethnicity you've been mistaken for?

Sami people and kazakh. How about you?

Re: wierdest ethnicity you’ve been mistaken for?

Italian, middle eastern and hispanic. We have loads of Germans, recently come ones and ones who had their grandparents come Germany, but the people that aren’t the blonde blue eyed ones and more on the tanned side would be mistaken for the three I mentioned. South Asians are recently coming here. It depends on which ethnicity is most populous in the place you live in though. We have almost every ethnicity here so it’s basically whichever ethnicity the person’s been around so obviously they would think you’re one of those people.

Re: wierdest ethnicity you’ve been mistaken for?

it depends on what you ethnicity you think you look like. For example i don’t think i look at all like a kazakhi person so for me thats wierd

Re: wierdest ethnicity you’ve been mistaken for?

Do you look like those races? if you do then its not wierd sorry :frowning:

Re: wierdest ethnicity you’ve been mistaken for?

There have been a couple but the strangest (to me) have been:

  • Swedish/Norwegian - I have a bit of a Danish accent ( as I lived in Denmark until age 14), so that may be why.
  • Circassian
  • Russian
  • Afrikaans

Re: wierdest ethnicity you’ve been mistaken for?

Ha afrikaan how come? Circassian women are beautiful though. Who mistook you for Circassian as not many know about them?

Re: wierdest ethnicity you’ve been mistaken for?

^ I don’t really know why. Afrikaners are the descendants of the Dutch settlers who first settled South Africa and speak a dialect of Dutch called Afrikaans and have an accent which to some people sounds Danish. I also have quite an interest in South African things, particularly food and history, so that may be why.

The lady who confused me for Circassian was Circassian herself. Interestingly, other than reading a couple of novels in which some of the characters were Circassian, I didn’t know much about them either until researching a bit. They have quite an interesting history. What I found odd about the ethnicities I’ve been confused for is that these ethnicities are quite diverse and don’t have one specific “look.”
