I saw it happen in our community too. There was an auntie who lost her husband in a fatal car accident and she was left alone with four kids. Her kids were older but she still got married in Pakistan and came back here. People talked at that time a bit but who cares? I dont think she cared at all. After the pain of losing her husband in such an abrupt manner - he had gone out simply to get milk and never made it home - a few rumors were nothing. She is doing great and I think one of her kids is married too.
