I think both are equally as destructive. However, IMO it has to do with culture too.
Women are blamed for not having boys like its their fault.
Women are blamed if marriages dont work out.
Women are blamed for kids not turning out the way they're supposed to.
Women are blamed if the son turns his attention away from his parents and gives it to wife.
Women are blamed for the fall of mankind.
What else is new?
