Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
Chanderpaul has close to 10,000 test runs at a healthy average of almost 50 but the first line of his cricinfo profile still reads **’ The possessor of the crabbiest technique in world cricket’

He may not be the most attractive batsman around but his record is good in both tests and ODIs
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
I’ve always like Chanderpaul.
He’s a clickman, a dependable accumulator along the likes of Shoaib Malik, Mike Hussey, Collingwood, and other such players. You can also include Cook in this list, but he’s more of an orthodox opening batsmen. A clickman (a term I coined) is someone who makes the most of his talent, is usually a great fielder, stays fit, eats his vitamins, scores runs in singles, doubles as well as in boundaries where needed.
But most of all they bat smoothly, and before you know it, have scored 20-25 runs and are away towards higher scores.
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
Aus were in trouble ...well sort of at 84/3 and recovery phase is on but couple of quick wickets and WI will give them-self a chance to make Aus follow-on.
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
Aus 215/5
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
Excellent declaration by Aussies. They declared when they were 43 runs short and now they are ripening the fruit as WI are 27/4 in their 2nd inning.
Pakistan (in fact many other teams) would have never declared in deficit!
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
West Indies made a complete hash of this test. Yesterday with Aus 322/9, Windies looked set to gain an important 100+ first innings lead and push for a win. But as Aussies often do, they somehow managed to wrest the initiative back from WI
Now it is they (Windies) who have to save this match
191 runs in 62.2 overs should not be too difficult of a chase for Australia
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
Rain can still save Windies
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
Aus 46/1 (18 overs) need another 146 runs in 45 overs @ 3.24 RPO
Windies have done well so far to restrict the Australian RR to 2.50 +/- but they need to take wickets regularly as well. Aussie batsmen could explode anytime soon
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
173/5 off 44 overs. Aussies have struggled big time.
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
Australia 174/5 closing in on an unexpected test win
Just proves that you can still lose a test match even after scoring almost 450 in the first innings (if you are careless). Windies dominated the game for 3.5 days but one bad session or more precisely their failure to dislodge the last Australian pair yesterday has effectively cost them the match
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
Wonderful game it was! Both sides played good game but in the end fortune favored the brave... Aussies declared when they were 40+ runs behind, had they declared after leveling the scores or after small lead then the game would've been a draw.
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
If it was a close game, odds are the Aussies got a few calls going their way?
Re: WI vs Aus - 1st Test
In Bravo, Pollard and Gayle.. that's 3 very good players that could have been playing for WI instead the IPL. What a difference they could have made?

Agreed.
