why is it when i specifically pray for my parents health and for them to be happy, i hear of them being in the hospital for days.
why is it when i pray my husband and i always love respect and support each other, we fight everyday. when i stop praying, we get along perfect.
why is it when i pray for a good relationship with my in laws, they do something which upsets me where i cant sleep for days?
why why why why.
i believe in God, and the power of prayers. but mine, always happen the opposite of not what i necessarily want. instead, when things are good, i get so happy and continue pray to God to keep it like that and be thankful for blessing me. within minutes of praying (yes, this has happened several times), literally minutes, something bad happens.
then i pray for the bad things to go away, and they only get worse until i stop praying. after which, it gets better again.

I can't comment on your case specifically, though the topic of dua is an interesting one, and one that we happened to hear about at the masjid yesterday. Some of the points brought were:
Dua is accepted in one 3 ways - either you get exactly what you ask for, either a calamity is averted from you in lieu of what you asked for or you get a reward in aakhirah in exchange for what you actually prayed for.
Certain things that prevent a dua from being accepted are consumption of haram food and earning of haram livelihood or using something acquired in a haram manner (e.g. wearing clothes bought with money earned in a haram manner).
Also, generally Allah will grant us something we ask for if it is good for us.

Try to find goodness even in bad situation..this seems to me that shaitan puts waswasa so that you stop making dua..keep on praying instead i will say the good happens even you stop praying the response of dua you make in good times..thats how i see your case..
In either case you have to have husn e zan billah(always have good thougts of Allah subhan wa ta'alla) meaning the good comes to you is indeed alone from Allah even you pray or not...so thank Allah that even you stop praying He bless you with good instead of thinking why bad happens even you make dya for goodness...
