Why is daughter refer by dad and son by mum?
Like flan flan is "dad names " di dhee and flan flan is "mothers name " da puttar ?
Even dada for daughter and nani for sons
Is this punjabi culture ?
Why ?

Re: why
I think its both way in Sindhi culture. I mean children are referred with mom as well as dad's name.
When a male refers then it is mostly with reference to dad and ladies refer both ways.
Re: why
Calling spouse by name is considered uncivilized in our culture
So calling by such way is best possible alternative.
Re: why
I heard that daughters are attached to father, while sons are closer to mother. @ehsan @tlk
Please give your opinion.

I don't think it works that way. It is more random. Depends on family tradition I guess.
BTW, I am frequently referred to as "Khotay da puttar'. I am sure it refers to neither of my parents.
Re: why
^ that's typical in punjabi parents , they say that to their children in anger
Prolly depends on tradition then or maybe don't know names that's why refer by parents, who knows
