Why?!!

Come on guys, don’t ya just love Indian plots?!! You know, why is it that when the hero is fighting off, not 1, not 2 but 4 guys..(yes 4) he doesn’t even get a scratch. And have you noticed the sudden way they burst into songs on the street…and all the people on the street miraculously know all the dance moves!!..final point how do they change their clothes so fast!!

libra - hehe, maybe that's why some of us keep coming back to watch indian movies.

though, i watch them until the serious part, like when the dishu dishu <> and bang-bang-pow-wow <> begin.
i only really watch 'em for the songs................... :)but ya, they do change their attire too quickly.

i made a million sellin' secret fantasies

Ever watched Rambo movies? How he can take on a lot of men at a time. There are songs also in Hollywood movies, but they get censored. Really. Remember Saturday Night Fever? Fame? Graduate? Sound of Music? Rust Never Sleeps? And you see how James Bond can walk on a thread and even at age 70 can have 19 year old lovers?

I think Indian Movies still have a lot to go.

Hey NYAhmadi

Yes I have watched a few Rambo films..but the point of that was he was a nutter! He could have fought those many people. And as for the hollywood films that have music in like saturday night fever, etc, they were back in the 70's etc. But Bollywood still do it now, at least those films actually had a plot. And the James Bond Films, I wouldn't know what happens in them as I don't watch them...

Dear Libra,

I think that’s what makes Indian movies so unique and so interesting. It is escapism, and that’s what people there want. If they wanted to see Shakespearean theatre, it will also become popular, but they don’t.

I think it is quite interesting seeing people dance in streets synchronously(I wish our Army paraded as coordinated as Indian Street Dancers!!), and also nice to see how heroes and heroines can be perceived as so “cool” and “attractive” in cheap GAP clothes.

The other good thing about Indian movies is that it defies common sense. It challenges your imagination and it takes you to the heights where Hollywood can only dream of going.

But to keep some equipoise, there are also movies with social themes as well, one only needs to find them.

In all honesty, I will go see a Sitiageet Roy movie any day over Francis Coppola, John Cassavetes, and (even Elia Kazan). No, it is not right to compare great moviemakers with one another. I shouldn’t do that. They are all great.

But I think that Bollywood has produced some great movies, and lot of not so great ones. Bombay movie industry is one institution of the Indian Sub Continent that we should all be proud of.

My personal favorites are old ones, with Sunil Dutt, Nargis, Daleep Kumar, Ashook Kumar, Mina Kumari, Mumtaz, Dev Anand, Zenat Aman (oh yeah…), and Reekha and many more.

I know it'so stupidddd yaar!. He get's battred, smacked, kicked, hit and still doesn't get one tiny scratch or bruise or blood!.

And then he goes to jail and gets tied up and beaten up by the police men with their 'dhandaas'.....he isn't unconcious or falling sick, or making weired faces....he just seems as if there is nothing happening to him!.

WHAT'S THE POINT OF MAKING INDIAN FILMS WHEN THEY ARE NOT EVEN FILMZZZZZ!

I mean come on hello shouldn't he???????..That's INDIANS for you!.

I know that this isn't about indian films or whatever but, one day my dad went to an indian shop to get a box of tomatoe crisps and what did they give him???????......a box of tomatoes...HOW DUMB...HOW STUPID....HOW PATHETIC....Once again that's definitely INDIANS for you.

Mera Dil Hai 100% Pure Pakistani!xxxxxxx

NYA,

LOL! great post, cuts both ways. :)

Hana,

that was real stoopid, not knowing what's the diff 'tween tomato crisps and tomatoes. how dumb, how pathetic, how whatever...

btw, whats a tomato crisp?

Hey, Hana Memon

You raised a few good points about the indian movies, but there wasn't any real need to actually attack the indians. My topic was a light hearted one...not a political debate!!

Dear NYAhmadi

You said that Bollywood takes you to heights that only Hollywood can dream of...now what would that exactly be? They haven't produced a decent film for ages, they have over hyped plots that run for 4 hours and at the end your still wondering what actually happened. Care to respond?

i don't know about others but i watch indian movies because they are an escape just as any movie, its nice to see people be happy and in love in a la de da world. american movies are like that kinda, i mean they're just movies.
