Why?

1- Why is so common that with every news which is considered ‘bad’:

-Shops, schools, offices etc. are closed

-Tires are burnt

-People come on street

-Many people get hurt or killed

…in Pakistani cities.

I can see these acts are not ‘initiated’ by majority, but eventually the majority suffers.

2- Do these acts help achieve any positive results?

3- If not then:

What is the solution and what are the alternatives?

Re: Why?

Destroying ANY property as form of 'protest' is plain stupid and serves nothing as the only one suffering are people themselves, may be not the ones protesting but still the victim in that case is their fellow countrymen.

The solution is shoot-at-sight whenever there is 'tire/vehicle burning' but that should be accompanied by video-making for proof in courts.

Re: Why?

What really bugs or should bug people is the amount of empathy people show when destrying public property. As if their offsprings will never have to use those facilities.

Re: Why?

very good point.
but how do we get this across to them?
education?

Re: Why?

Well education is one way and also better security is another.

Some cities you dont see this in becuase most street furniture is considered beforehand in the design of the area so in worse case scenarios benches etc are metal and fixed so they cant be torched or thrown... cars are restricted from thr inner city on polution grounds and to prevent them being torched.

Basically theres a whole host of security precautions that can be taken long before such things occur... but unless you have a shoot on site policy civil disorder is gonna happen sooner or later.... unless both gvernments and the public work together.

In Pakistan it's the peoples inner demons that are reacting to the same empathy shown by politicians.

I'm not here to make excuses for anyone becuase violence and disorder are not good things but the reasons behind it are deep and cannot be simply washed away, we need society as a whole to take charge.

Re: Why?

empathy? you mean apathy?

Re: Why?

Well pointed out :k:

Re: Why?

Yes. One way to get across is education. Unfortunately even formal education is not enough. Awareness with education along with making people understand by rule of law may be needed.

Younger generation with emotions out of control need better channels to be directed.

:smack: Yes thats the word I was thinking of. Thanks for correcting.

Off topic but this reminds me a joke:

A man goes to a surgeon and said “I want to have castration”.

He gets that operation next day.

While recovering he saw another man waiting for his operation.

He asked what was he in for?

He said: I am here for circumcision.

Welll… you can guess what the first man said.

Come to think of it, empathy could also fit there…
