Re: Why would Pakistan hide Bin Laden?
Trust deficit - They don’t trust us fully because of rogue elements within our government and military/intelligence apparatus who are:
- not ideological sympathisers of Al-Qaeda/OBL but wanted to use OBL as a bargaining chip (best case scenario) or
- ideological sympathizers that were protecting OBL from the Americans (worst case scenario)
and we don’t trust them fully…zore ‘fully’ par hai
Pakistan did its part

The following comment in the article sums it up:
“Considering how unreliable or untrustworthy the Paki officials are, I suppose Zardari could legitimately claim that Pakistan did its part, in this operation, by just staying back and doing nothing. Otherwise, Paki involvement would almost surely have botched it up or tipped OBL to escape, again, before the SEALs infiltrated his compound. So, yes, I guess you did publicly deserve that much token appreciation by Obama, after the operation by purely Americans was successful.”
