Why women were not given prophethood?

hmmmmm…like to hear from you guys…

coz they give birth to prophets :)

we would probably pick up a bomb and...u know, once a month

women may not have been messengers, but I think some women did receive wahi from Allah.... wonder if that qualifies them as a prophet.

PA its Ilhaam not wahi.

Afia well said, it would be the best answer.

If women were given prophethood, would majority of men believe a woman? Especially at the time the prophets came to the world, women were looked down upon in those times!! That may be one reason and Allah (swt) knows best.

Allah knows Best.

Allah appoints the messengers so why exactly are you asking us???

coz they have been given the greatest task of motherhood ..... this is hard enough already ... correct me if i am wrong .....:)

Because when the scriptures were writtten it was a man’s world, baby! Now, women do better than men in schools, are more capable in most tasks that can be perfomed. When god sends her next prophet, don’t be surprised if she is a woman and an American. I would convert in a second. :k:

^ Christina Aguilera is it.

R U MUSLIM?

calling all modz.... please refer to the answers of some guppies above^

IMHO, they're expressing their thoughts. If you disagree - battle it out with them :)

I agree with the theory that the scriptures were revealed at a time when it was a man's world. I'm sure God wanted someone that people would be able to accept at some level. No one would have accepted a woman. Look what they did to Bibi Mariam.

a very good point raised! :k:

If Allah hasn't mentioned in the Quran, than no need to ask. Religion is simple and so do not complicate it.

hmm..

thanks for your answers...:)

Well thr must b two main reasons...

1.)First someone already said it, women were mainly responsible for raising children, and families were very large at the time, 6-7 children was normal, so that was a very heavy responsibility.

2.)being a Prophet bohot physically demanding position thi, Prophets had to goto war, they were beaten, they were soldiers also isliyai women werent given the rank of Prophet but that does not take away kai islam mein women ki izat bohot hai

Prophet Mohammed (SAW) sai pucha gaya tha kai after Allah (SWT) and His(SWT) messenger (SAW) hum kisko sub sei zada izat dein and the Prophet (SAW) said "your mother", then he was asked, phir?, and he said, "your mother", or phir?"your mother", or phir? "your father"

well, Islam doesn't give us a choice of asking questions....it is the matter of faith....we shouldn't be looking for logic behind everything...it is our faith (Emaan) to follow and believe what islams tells us...so if Allah didn't give prophethood to women, we have no right to debate on that...

we shud think about the religion and inquire....

i dont remember the exact verses, but cud find them for u, if u need them....
following everything blindly is not what ISlam teaches....
