Salaams ** humhaipakistani **- I think it is quite simple.

Hazrat owaise karni (ra) is not a Sahabi of the Prophet (saw) as per definition of the Companion of the Prophet (saw).

Status of Hazrat owaise karni (ra) is similar to that of Hz. Bilal Ibn Rabah (ra) ( Bilal al-Habashi), Hz. Salman al-Farsi (ra) and others whom the Prophet (saw) stated were from his ahlul bayt.

So if the later two can be ‘honorary members of the ahlul bayt, Hazrat owaise karni (ra) can have the status of ‘honorary’ Companionship of the Prophet (saw).

That’s just one off. I have never heard or read of any Sunni or Shia eminent personality right from the early days ever deem it fit to be emulated/practiced or imitated.

oK If i tell u guys.... i did something i have to prove it ... when i say i didnt lie and u got a proof that aqeel did lie .... that proves me and wrong and u win the caseee... and plzz dont tell me the story orignated by abu hureraa coz he did make stuff up. as i have heared things from people saying Prophet s.a.w forgot to say Inshallah which is totally not acceptable

Now here i dun have to prove that they never commited a sin, U have to proof they did ...... However i shld mention that Quran wants us to Follow Allah, Prophet s.a.w and Ulil amr among people of all time .... Quran doesnt tell us who is ulil amr but Quran does tell us, that ulil amr cant be a sinner kafir and so on ... So y dont u tell me who qualfies as ulil amr at that time and now ?

And where did you get this story from? This story seems highly doubtful because it goes against the basic teachings of Islam, of not giving your body any physical harm.

It was narrated from ‘Ubaadah ibn al-Saamit that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) decreed that there should be no harm or reciprocating of harm. Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 2340; Ahmad, 21714; this hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Imam Ahmad and al-Haakim, and as hasan by Ibn al-Salaah.

Its hard to believe that a person of such high stature in Islam, would fall into emotions and go against a direct command of the Prophet.

Okay and where do u pull that basic teaching, that hitting ur self is haram, how about when ur mother ayesha does in sahih bukhari ? is it still haram ?
What if prophet Adam a.s did it according to ur books would it still be haram ?
Actually i think its just hard to accept that what u learned from ur scholars is wrong soo just let it go,,,

LOL like u wud belive me, even if it was in Quran u wud have a excuse..... i can provide u shia sources but its no use since u wont belive em as ur scholars call matam haram then its haram doesnt matter even if its proven in holy book Quran
Then came forward his wife in grief, she smote her face and said (what! I) An old barren woman?" Quran 51:29

The slapping of Prophet Ibraheem (as)'s wife Sara is proven from the Quran.
but now u wud be asking for awais karni r.a's story in Quran !!! rite ?

How is this ayaah even supposed to refer to matam? She's being given a good news here. Ibn Abbas rah (from Ahl e Bayt, hence he "cant" go wrong) said about this ayaah that "she smacked her face just as women do when confronted with an amazing thing," At Tabari (22:427)

Hence this is anything but matam or beating or hurting one's self.

Ok soo u r totally lookin for shia source, am gona look for it even though i think it total waste of my time since u wont believe it anyway !!
About the ayya, i thought issue here was hurting ur self is haram, rather then the reason u r hurting urself for, so u mean we can hurt if we hear a good news its only haram when u do it while mourning for Imam Hussain a.s ?
Y dont u people clearlly say, its not matam ? its Imam hussain a.s and shia's u have problems with....
and yea sorry for the delay, there are 3 types of questions, one that you ask others to show them ur knoweldge, one that u ask to test others, third that you ask to increase ur knowledge..... I hope u r not asking for source as 2nd type of questions, instead third type of questions are best type one can ask

The most explicit proof of self inflicted injury comes Owais Qarni, the great Muslim Sahaba, praised by both Shia as well as Sunni erudites, had an immense love for the Holy Prophet (s.a.w). When the news reached him in Yemen that two teeth of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) were broken in the battle of Ohad, he extracted all his teeth. When the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) got the news in Medina that Owais had struck down all his teeth, he (s.a.w) exclaimed, "Indeed Owais is our devoted friend."

This event can be found written in 'Tazkeratul Aulia' by Sheikh Fariddun Attar, also 'Ihsanul Uyun' commonly known as 'Seerate Halbia' vol II, page 295.

أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ قَالَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ

نَظَرْتُ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يُقَاتِلُ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَآخَرُ

مِنْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يَخْتِلُهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ لِيَقْتُلَهُ فَأَسْرَعْتُ إِلَى الَّذِي يَخْتِلُهُ

فَرَفَعَ يَدَهُ لِيَضْرِبَنِي وَأَضْرِبُ يَدَهُ فَقَطَعْتُهَا ثُمَّ أَخَذَنِي فَضَمَّنِي ضَمًّا

شَدِيدًا حَتَّى تَخَوَّفْتُ ثُمَّ تَرَكَ فَتَحَلَّلَ وَدَفَعْتُهُ ثُمَّ قَتَلْتُهُ وَانْهَزَمَ

الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَانْهَزَمْتُ مَعَهُمْ فَإِذَا بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فِي النَّاسِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ

مَا شَأْنُ النَّاسِ قَالَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ تَرَاجَعَ النَّاسُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى

اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Here is the hadeeth, from sahi bukhari Sahih Bukhari Vol. 3, p. 45.
I am not going to trasnlate it, why dont u find out the hadith urself and read the traslation.... and post it here then i wud know that atleast u care

Allah has given basharat to some sahabas of Jannat and Hazrat Abu Bakar (ra), Hazarat Usman (ra) and Hazarat Omer (ra) are among them. If Allah has pardoned their sins from their days of Jahiliya then who are we to keep grudges for them. They have done some amazing work to spread Islam and they were very close to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
I think its very wrong to use bad language for anyone, let alone these people who are so important in the life of Hazarat Mohammed (PBUH).

dude why would you add that part in your post. Its not relevant at all and you know would provoke shias. The query was about the use of the word imam which you explained to some degree from your point of view in the rest of the post. Why can't some people see muslims from different sects talking in a civilized manner and have to make sure there is a constant quarrel.
