as much as i love the country, i wonder about it sometimes too, specially after reading the papers

I was brought up in the UK though I was born in East Africa my grandfather emigrated from what was then India.
I certainly do not share the view that all women in the West are whores and consider such a view deeply offensive.
If you do get time to access the internet then do e-mail us. Make sure that you make an arrangement to phone a relative in the US on a regular basis. Just in case things don't work out.

Thanks for the kind words! Email is basically only accessible form Islamabad or Karachi or something. Gilgit used to have spotty service, but now it seems to have none at all.
Yeah, calling home is good. I actually had an aquaitance tell me to buy a gun and keep it with me at all times. That seems a bit radical to me. It is just difficult to get unbiased opinion and advice on the situation in Pakistan. Of course, the family in Pakistan says no problem, you will be in Northern Areas, it is safe here, etc.
People I know here who have worked and lived in Pakistan say, it is too dangerous right now with all the violence, new blaspheme laws singling out Christians, being a single woman, etc.
It's an interesting situation. i have a lot to learn about the Politics and social fabric of Pakistan!
