Time and again in these forums we have mentioned that a ban on certain person or guppy is only discussed with the concerned person and we do not like to make that information public. It will be discussed with her if and when she approaches us.

**ur analogy is misguided …neither is Theorist a criminal nor is being banned a saza as such…

we cannot discuss the particulars of why every member is banned because the member themselves may not want those details publicized… if you really want to know, contact Theorist and I am sure she will let you know why she was banned IF SHE WANTS to…but that is a decision she has to make…that particular decision we cannot make for her or for any member that has been banned or has received an infraction

In relation to your question. A ban is …]based on …] breaking rules of the forum. Yes, those that break rules and live on the edge do seem more interesting, but that can also become problematic as this is a family friendly forum The administrators are trying pretty hard to keep the number of bans low and increase traffic and discussions. However, there is a certain level of cleanliness which needs to be kept on GS (while we want to increase discussions). To enhance discussions, posters can do that without using these: ******, or vulgar statements, attacking another poster or group of people, or posting porn.

These above mentioned also apply to this mod-free month, simply because we do not want the forum to become distasteful.

I know [no one] wants a complete lawless GS, because it would be utter chaos to say the least. However, I am sensing the idea from certain threads that we mods and the administrators are like dictators and we only want things our way. While is obviously is not true, but this mod-free month was implemented to clearly hear the view points like this of posters. And most threads/ topics being discussed at the moment could also be discussed during any normal month. Why posters think they could not discuss it than, is interesting and the administration is working on it.

Also, it’s okay to be curious about the bans or infraction points of certain members, but you also have to understand that they have a right to privacy: which means we cannot disclose in full detail why, how, when, where they were banned. If they want to share it themselves, that’s fine. We do not want a previous ban to be hunting them while they’re posting post-ban. This leads to my next point, because members do not know in full detail what happened between the administration and the member who was banned, this only leads to assumptions. Putting a ban on a member is NOT an easy job to say the least. There are discussions across the board to find the right conclusion to a misbehaving member. Like many times TLK has said, we’re only humans. We can only rely on our best judgment and analysis.

That said, this free-mod month has been a great success in understanding what members want. And we hope this will continue after Oct.

if she has not provided her email address or alternate means to contact her in her profile then that means she does not wish to be contacted that way.
