Why use that kaali ball in the food?

I never get the point of it and my mom always tends to put those little black dots in salans saying it’s for smell. The strange part about this is that I know some one who actually loves chewing on those nasty tasting mirchai.

there is one thing Jaaye FaL, Jaavatri too
Mostly are used in dishes like Qourma… your mom is right.. it is for the smell and a bit of taste… and often a lot of thirst:D

What FLAVOR!? Trust me if you make whatever the "salan smelling aunties" make with out the dot the food will come out alright.

Haan haan...i know EXACTLY what ur talking about! Omg I always wonder the same thing. I don't understand how it "adds" smell. They're soo discusting. I hate accidentally biting into them, so small u cant even tell. They're like those loong things, atleast thats what its called in urdu.

Yea when I bite into them without knowing it's in my mouth ruins the entire meal for me. I hate the aftertaste :(
