why we need USA so much ? Financial AID ? Miltary Defence ? Modern Tech. ?
investmnet in Pakistan ? Any thing else ?? well The Aid is so expensive and we giving back high prize of it… We always get the Miltary Equipments of new tech. when its get OLD, like F16 etc.. USA Naval war ship arrived to help when war was over and nation lost a lot… Why uncle Tom is important for us, while he have double policy between India and Pakistan
Other hand we have a good relation with China, its our Giant neighbour and good friend for a long time, atleast could help us against our another giant neighbour in case of trouble.
China help us out in a various important achievements in past and surly can do in future either.. for examples ..

Self Reliance is always on top , you are right , but see without China's Help , how could we get such a brillant Nuclear Rector or say GAWADAR PORT.
I think with US every country on the world facing this dilemma, best is not be in bed with them or make them enemy either. best would be just keep them at arms length with bilateral relations. That it. friendship and enmity with USA is disaster in both cases.
being close to friends is always good specially the sincere ones like China. strategic level thinking will lead us only to have strong ties with regional powers, China, Russia and not throwing our weight only to US of A.
aid will not work for any country. a debt cancellation would have work better if some one is really want to help PAkistan.
US has influence and a year ago when the new govt need some funds, they specifically stopped all the friend countries not to help Pakistan at all. So it will have to re enter trap of IMF! which this govt did finally and we end up being in IMF trap once again and reliant on Aid again. as IMF prgrams doesnt help a country to establish it self but make it more reliant on loans and aid.
the day we start to think that Aids doesnt run countries, that will be good. specially these peanuts that kind of saving can be done with managing ourself better.
we providing resources to war of US, transit routes, airbases and other refuelling facilities to US and if we bill them, that will be much more than this AID altogether.
plus we fighting war with many elements came from post US invasion of Afghanistan to Pakistan. this war on terror also has effected our trade and industry. these should be raised with US to get some market access incentives for export and trade.
but instead of this, we out with bowl as we dont have visionary leadership at all. they are simply beggers. while hiding their wealth outside of Pakistan they expect others to help Pakistan!!
I can't say whether we should ask China for help or not.. But I do know why we keep on begging America, even when we know what they will do with us in return...
Our leaders feel as if they are the 'dogs' of America, and they keep licking America's feet.. In America, our leaders are made to take off their shoes in conferences and are being held at the airport for security concerns. While we, on the other hand, keep on treating them like our Kings.. Other countries have always revolted against such humiliating acts, except for we, the ignorant.
I believe, our leaders should learn by now, that America is ONLY a country and not THE KING. We, as a country, should deal neutrally with them.
Also, we must realize now that Pakistan is not a poor country!

as per Articles 211 China ’s views on Kargil has to be seen in the broader context of its policy on Kashmir . In the last two decades, there has been a change in its Kashmir policy, which has much to do with its own internal compulsions.

or probably the reason is There are other reasons why China cannot support Pakistan on Kashmir or Kargil. The very foundation of Pakistan is based on Islam and therefore is a source of religious terrorism. While it has openly supported terrorist forces in Kashmir , there are reports of Uighur Muslim terrorists getting training in Pakistani camps. In fact, China had protested to Pakistan on this issue in February this year, an allegation denied by Pakistan . Besides, after the break-up of the Soviet Union , Muslim fundamentalism is on the increase in Central Asia . Any support to Pakistan on Kashmir , therefore, will only lead to more problems in the adjoining more vulnerable Chinese province of Xinjiang .
I don't think its wise to talk about exclusively the U.S or China. I think we need the support of both nations, through actual technology transfers, access to markets, and debt relief.
As another poster mentioned, we need to get off the dole and work towards basic technology advancements and economic development. For that purpose we need as many allies as possible.
