Why To Go To "masjid"

A Muslim wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to Masjid (Mosque) every Friday. I’ve gone for 30 years now, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me I can’t remember a single one of them. So I think I’m wasting my time and the Imam they are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.

This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the Editor” column, much to the dismay of the editor.

It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

"I’ve been married for 30 years now.
In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals.
But for the life of me, I cannot recall what the menu was for a single one of those meals.

But I do know this:
they all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work.
If my wife had not given me those meals, I would be dead today."
No comments were made on the sermon contents anymore

a student wrote this to a school principal:

"i've been visitin school for 7 hours, every 5 days in a week, from 10 years....
i've not understood, nor do i remember any of the lectures....
so i wasted all my time, all these years....
as did the teachers who came to teach me...."

now if that one student dint understand, does it really mean the teacher wasted time by teaching????
instead of crying, he shud be trying to concentrate more on what the imam is saying....

u'll die without food, this life will be miserable....
but without spiritual guidance ur afterlife will be ruined....
and ur wife wont feed u then....

^-- plus add to what mughal said how did imaam wasted his time? He fulfilled the duty of conveying and thus the burdon of responsiblity to deliver the "right" is fulfilled.. Guidance is not in any human being's hand!

^ add to above
The imam of masjid possess deepest knowledge and understanding. They are appointed to function as local leaders, whose main duty is to educate and reform the people. Whehter the person attends the talk of Imam or takes heed from that is entirely there problem..
