Re: Why the Internet will fail - Newsweek 1995

This article was best at the time of publishing. Dont you realize, author made several argument on Internet flaws of that time.

Re: Why the Internet will fail - Newsweek 1995

That's where he went wrong. He was arguing against the internet of his time.
People who were predicting rise of internet were arguing about internet of future.

Re: Why the Internet will fail - Newsweek 1995

You misunderstood my point. Researchers took all concern under consideration to make internet technology reliable.

He made another prediction recently. Let us revisit in some odd years and see if it will be true.
Nicholas Negroponte: The Physical Book Is Dead In 5 Years

Re: Why the Internet will fail - Newsweek 1995

This one about book might become true in future but perhaps 5 years is too early for it.

Re: Why the Internet will fail - Newsweek 1995

Are you kidding? This is going to be true in 2 years.

Re: Why the Internet will fail - Newsweek 1995

Many of us remember CD's came and took over Cassettes and Vinyl records and now even CDs are pretty much gone. I believe that ebooks are going t o take over 80-90 percent of the market in 2-3 years.

Re: Why the Internet will fail - Newsweek 1995

Agree 100%. CD's are gone, DVD's are going to be gone soon. BluRay is obsolete before it even started. Everything is soon going to be streaming. Even the president of Netflix, who based their business on DVD rentals, said that they're converting over fast.

Even on the software side its the same. Most enterprise class software is downloadable. It burns me like anything when I need some software app on a server and I have to hunt down CD/DVD that it came on. The first thing I do when I get new software is to copy it to the the central storage. And I'm talking about home :D
