why the heck

what is it that prompts people to copy others’ work, in this case blogs, and pass them off as their own? Is it a life so uneventful that it makes one try to pass off other’s experiences as one’s own?what is behind such a desperate desire to appear cool on a discussion board that makes one sit there going through blogs all over the net, picking their next entry? Does the sadness of it all not stop them? Nor the fear of embarassment incase they were caught (google)? If you knew someone was plagiarizing what would you do? Would you expose them so that others are not misled? What if it was a friend? Would it affect your relationship with him/her?Please discuss and watch out for blogs going private after this entry

re: why the heck

you wanna point out which blogs?
cos i know mine is my own

Re: why the heck

No I won't. I don't want to embarrass them, I am just hoping they would reflect and hopefully stop.
More importantly the purpose of this is not to name names but to try to understand why someone would do such a thing and what others would do if faced with such a scenario.

Re: why the heck

have someone used your work?

Re: why the heck

Lots of information gets handed around on the net.

I would simply link them your blog entry...thats usually a pretty good hint.

Re: why the heck

This is not a case of information getting handed around, someone who has gone pvt, just as suspected, had been copying blog entries daily from blogspot/wordpress, etc.,and adding a few lines at the top to make it sound like her own experience. She pretty much refused to post links to the original blogs but said she would remove all the entires from her blogs, but since she has gone pvt, I have no way of knowing if she has done so or not , or if she continues to post others' blogs in pvt. All I can say to people is, when you enjoy reading a blog entry, try googling it first :D

Re: why the heck

Ccopying someones work is a true act of desperation and lack of originality, just to point out the obvious:halo:
