Just about every other movie has a Punjabi connection. The most recent Sharukh Khan movie Rub Ne Banadi Jori is an example. Another example is the upcoming Shahid Kapoor movie whose name I don’t remember, and Love Aaj Kal.
Does Punjabi culture really have such a huge impact influence on general Indian culture? What relation could someone from Mumbai, Kerala or Bihar have to Punjabi culture? Are there really that many Sikhs that every movie must have one?
If Pakistani movies did this it’s understandable due to Punjabi being the most spoken language, most populated province and a lot of actors and singers coming from Lahore. But just seems a bit odd that Bollywood movies show so much Punjabi culture.
Not dissing on it or saying anything bad, just wondering about this Bollywood and Punjabi culture connection. I don’t recall a lot of Bollywood movies from the 80’s doing this.
