As many of you know, the earthquake has been one of the world’s biggest disaster since the Tsunami, if not bigger. Yet the relief provided by govts and private donations is much, much less than in the Tsunami.
Any theories why?..Disaster fatigue?..Because it’s Pakistan?..any theories?
yeaa i thought, Pakistan was renowed in the world, every1 considered pakistan as doing a lot for war against terror, just shows u they dont care about Pakistani people!
so many disasters in such close proximity....everyone is jaded I think. Regardless of nationality race or religion I hope all victims get required help. I will do my bit (my company matches donations by employees !!!)
how about we start from home first.. the move to international level.. for example.. STOP LOOTIN UR OWN PPL..
i was with my cousin.. and we were tryin to get all this concrete rid of to get dumped.. so we needed somone with a donkey and his u know.. rerri…
this poor little kid.. no more then 9 yrs old.. we hired him to do it.. agreeing to do the work at RS 40-60 if i am correct..
now i dono wat the poor dude understood.. maybe that he was only suppose to do one round.. bt we got him to do 3 rounds.. and my cousin paid the poor dude RS40..
i had an argument with my cousin sayin. u know that poor kid worked his ass off to earn money.. and by not givin him mor.. ur actually encouraging him to to beg rahter then work.. and u know that the poor boy is helpless.. so ur takin advantage of him..
this is very common in pak.. the rich takin advantage of poor.. he did end up givin him RS 80 i fink..
bt the point of wat i am sayin is.. the only way u gona becum efficient is if u do the righ thing.. rahter then rip ur own ppl off.. e.g. pay ur taxes.. don expect a high service back.. if ur not even gona pay ur taxes.. i mean less than 1.5% pay taxes.. and mostly from business..
and still u complain.. again.. beggers cant be choosers…
I really don't think receiving aid during catastrophies can be considered begging.
And also don't ever forget this - Most 3rd world countries, especially India, Pakistan and some African countries, were exploited by the west for several centuries during colonial days. Raw materials were exported out, local infrastructure was developed only to the extent it served such trades and local population was educated to the limited extent of subservience.

the largest aid has came from our muslim brother like kuwait and saudi arabi etc. = 100m each! unlike the richest country in the world = amearica!

ok, we really need to stop blamming U.S for everthing. If you hadn't notice, 90% of the much needed helicopters flying in the quake hit regions are American. They've also sent atleast 2 ships full of supplies. They also were one of the biggest contributor to Indonesia (A muslim nation) for Tsunami.
Everybody has their problems. This year has been the worst ever. Everybody is stretched out. I agree that a lot more could be done but whatever you get, say Thank you
I can bet right now and I am sure most will agree that our own people and I am talking about the govt and the politians are gonna eat most this money.
I heard about Kuwait giving 100 million but i didn't hear Saudi giving anything. I was wondering about that. Mushy apparently thanks Saudi as well. How much did they contribute btw? just wanted to know
neway sumbody was tellin me.. that the only reason y america has suddenly taken intrest in pak is so they can make their own base, in that way pakistan will be fully immobile, and the millitants cannot do anything.. i dono.. i don think the govt of pakistan is that dumb.. especially the army.. bt then..
Interesting how this time around the public reaction (at least in the West) has been quite muted compared to the Tsunami disaster...no Anderson Cooper or any real journalist going to Pakistan, no telethons, no concerts, no collections at work...
And I must say, I like it this way. The aid we are getting isn't a part of some media event, but from concerned people all over the world.
Rather than focus on how much some lame-ass artist is sending over, we get to hear about organizations like doctors without borders, and the various government organizations that are on the ground for the long term....
Two months after the Tsunami disaster, the public forgot all about it...sheesh.
This time around, I noticed most of the action is from fellow Muslim countries...in particular the ones that secular Pakistanis like to bash (the Gulf states come to mind)...
What REALLY made me sick was how the Western media was putting down the Muslim states for their "anemic" and "delayed" response to the Tsunami...as if it were some kind of compitition to help...
