We have 5 Muslims (Pathan bros, Munaf, Zaheer & Kaif) who are part of the national squad (depending on form/injuries)...I dont think their religion was ever a factor in their playing/not playing for the national team.

i am an UNBIASED Indian Muslim and i strongly encourage you not to believe what you hear or perceive to be the truth. There is open rhetoric against us by fundamentalist Hindus but other than that we have more religious freedoms / rights than an Egyptian / Algerian / middle eastern person would have. discrimination in jobs...yes! but its subtle not obvious. These days, to be honest, bribery is what matters the most. If you got money, you an get the job no matter who you are. Discrimination is everywhere to eb honest...in Pakistan too, against Mahajirs/sindhis/sarhadis. so, lets be objective here. thank you.
we, in india, have AligaRh Muslim University, hundreds of thousands of minority institutions, mostly for muslims, urdu taught in schools. even majority Hindus are learning urdu to teach in Colleges coz it pays good money at par with any other subject, like math and science.
Some of my Indian Muslim friends can not write their names in Urdu and more surprisngly one of them is a graduate from Ali Garh university. . .
From this I can guess that Urdu is not being looked after as much as you are telling . ..
any how Urdu is a language and it dose not belong to muslims only . . .

The stastistics U provided is half baked truth. Govt of India provide equal opportunity to each of its citizen. Religion bias is not practised here in India unlike our neibhours.
The problems muslims are facing is coz of their religious and political leaders who never let them educate. Its not a hidden fact that muslims have less awareness of education. Even during times when muslims were ruling India, situation in terms of education was even worse than today. Government provides them free education, even religious madaris in India gets government aids. What else U want government to do for them?
Bigger problem is their pseudo religious mindset which stops them to live in National mainstream. Their religious leaders always would teach them the supreme concept of Ummah. This is the basic reason that they have very less representation in Militray services. Because anyone would know that a muslim soldier is an easy target of defection to enemy's side. So its for betterment for Muslims of India that they remain out of military services.
And as far as the topic of this thread is concerned, muslims have enough representation according to their representation in Indian population.

Aapke jo dost urdu me apna naam nahin likh pate unhone kabhi urdu seekhne ki kosish nahin ki hogi, warna yahan takreeban har sarkari school me urdu ke teachers hain, aur urdu talib ilm ke liye ek optional subject hai. Aur jo aapke dost Aligarh Muslim University se graduate hain,unko urdu ke taleem na hone ki baat mujhe bhi hairat me daalti hai. Halanki aisa amooman hota nahin hai.
Maine aapko pehle hi bataya hai ki har sarkari school me urdu teacher hona lazmi hai. Isliye aap ye nahin kah sakte ki urdu ke sahi dekhbhal hindostaan me nahin ho pa rahi hai.
Main aapki baat se ekdum ittefaq rakhta hoon ki urdu kisi quam ya mulk ki zuban nahin hai, balke har us shaks ki zuban hai jo urdu se mohabbat karta hai.

I went to IIT Mumbai a long time ago and even then the second highest scoring kid in my class was a Muslim. 3 of my profs were Muslims. We never thought Muslims as inferior to us. In fact religion was not considered at all in our relationships with Muslims,it was only academic excellenece which was the yardstick by which we measured others. I have hard time believing that Hindus or other non-Muslims (in fact even Ahmadis or Agakhanis) in Pakistan get treated as well.
