why should not we privatise

PTCL has been privatized (sold to a foreign buyer) and every mouth worth of salt is finding more beautiful words to praise this. All they are proving this a work long should had been done, due to unexpected price it shows foreign confidence in investing in Pakistan, buyer is from a friendly brotherly country etc. Hardly a few have felt any real pain that part of a national asset has gone in hands of foreigners and that today we are not as free in our home (PTCL) as were in the past be. The foreign buyer has today the right to enter our PTCL home, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom though 26%. The Prime Minister showing his happiness has stated now privatization process will take speed and mega projects like Steel Mills, Oil distribution companies etc will be sold. I wonder why are we taking so pains taking job and procedure of privatizing step by step these national assets. Why should not we “privatize” to foreign buyers our “the government”. I am sure this will fetch unexpected price and “the land and the real people” of this nation will get a real benefit, peace and life.

Re: why should not we privatise

you tell me why government should run businesses???
Government should only govern and watch over the business not actually running it.

yea you got a point there, government is the only thing which cant be privatised cause its the who govern but not be run and govern by other bodies!

Re: why should not we privatise

Technically, government can be privatised. The British East India Company was a shareholder owned corporation that carried out the function of government of India.

Of course, that experience showed why it is not a good idea to privatise government… but it is possible to do.

Re: why should not we privatise

I think Pakistan should privatize the government. I will take a 26% equity in the venture and get some warrants to rachet up the equity for finally getting the army out of running the country and have it build roads and dams, instead of running businesses.

I will further cut the defense budget by 30% and take the savings to invest in development of logn term growth sectors like pharma and biotech by creating world class labs and research faciities. Simultaneously, I will create sepcialized schools based on the IIT phenomen like the Bhindians, focused on developing scientists and educators focused on this industry. Watch in one generation as the product of education and industry infra will yield dividends for multiple generations. The trickle down effect with disposable incomes will fuel a consumer boom that will create jobs and provide opportunities for others.

SO bhayion..let’s set up a hold co…call it Krishna Enterprises and make something out of Pakistan. Ram ram.. :flower1:
