Just another thought.
looking behind me reminds me that i have been praying to god eversince i was 10.
and even then i will only get wat im destined to get.
so why take all the pressure.
what kind of difference will the prayers make.

Re: Why should i pray?
if you call yourself Muslim, you have to observe 5 pillars of Islam just like if you are an american, you'll have to follow and abide by the american laws. professing kalima, praying 5 times a day, fasting in the month of Ramadhan, Hajj once in a life time if you can afford and pay zakaat if you have enough wealth...these are the bare minimums...denying this will constitute Kufr...that means renouncing Islam.

was ur reason of prayer based on ur future wants being given to u?
"When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way." 9Baqarah:186)
Re: Why should i pray?
when angels and jinns pray all the time and god does not need our prays so what difference would it make if i stop praying .
HE would even then forgive me

=> shouldnt we pray?
Re: Why should i pray?
prayers do not make us better than angels

fyi, angel are like robot and do whatever Allah assigned them, while we human beings are distinct from all other creature. we rebel, disobey and use our free will and sometime support wrong person.
if one is trying hard to stay on right path and praying, he/she is best in the eyes of Allah.
my two cents. :@:
Re: Why should i pray?
3 sayings of Hazrat Ali regarding worship:
A group of people worshipped Allah (SWT) out of desire for reward; this is the worship of traders. Another group worshipped Allah (SWT) out of fear; this is the worship of slaves. Yet another group worshipped Allah (SWT) out of gratitude; this is the worship of freemen.
Even if Allah (SWT) had not warned those disobedient to Him of chastisement, it was obligatory by way of gratefulness for His favours that He should not be disobeyed.
My Lord, I did not worship you out of fear from Your Fire, nor out of desire for Your Paradise; but I found You worthy of worship, so I worshipped You.

If your desires are purely worldly then no need to pray anymore and if you desire for immortal life in heaven then surely there will be a great reward for you.
I mean since our childhood we start studying and attend different lectures some of which even we don't like nor wants to read/learn about it but we have to do to get flying colors and get higher respectable position even there is no surety of getting such position, but still we study and hopes one day we will get what we desire.
Similar to this we offers our prayers for after-life rewards and hope Almighty Allah will accept our prayers and gives us reward as per all our pressure. Almighty Allah is more merciful and He sometime rewards us in this world too like we were rewarded in school on different occasions.
