I have a serious question though regarding the title...--"Do the mullahs actually think"
Coming back to the topic though, I have noticed the same attitude among the Christian priests too. My analysis is that the priests sacrifice quite a lot to become priests and when they see what they are missing, they inwardly feel that the sacrifice is worth the reward that is destined for them. These priests/mullahs are also human beings and want a just reward for the sacrifices that they make in being a priest/mullah. This gives them the belief that they are superior to the common people and behave accordingly...
Some have that "I'm superior to you" type of attitude and some dont - no matter what religion you're talking about. I personally take to those who exude the peaceful and serene type of attitude and shy away from anyone who tries to act superior. People are people, no matter what their religion or cultural background and its the job of a religious leader to bring everyone into their fold, make them feel wanted and accepted. Acting superior has the opposite effect (on me personally anyway).
And, please, dont think that I say this regarding only Muslim religious leaders...or the majority of ANY religion's leaders. They are not numerous for the most part but they do much damage, these arrogant types.
All do not think but tank from think tanks!
I mean lakes, in dry area when rains fall
water remains as a lake may be some time
this water ends of buffalo swimming pool
and toilet as well! That is the problem,

I agree that if a person has religious knowledge and is pious enough to practically apply that knowledge, he/she should share it with the intention of making a difference/helping/guiding, yes, but often times, it is the attitude which makes it a negative.
That was my point nikki.
Ume, I've met this type of person and understand what you're talking about lol! I think they are the insecure types, the ones who have a need to feel "better" or more superior to others. Yet when you look more deeply into their character, inevitably you will find major flaws. And I'm talking not only about Mullahs...I've seen this with Catholics, Jews and other christian religious types too...they try very hard to convince others of their superiority in the religious sense because they are inferior in most other senses!
The most pious of people are the ones who inspire others to come to the faith just in their everyday actions, attitudes and behaviors. The best term to describe them is Serene. When you meet someone who is utterly at peace with themselves, the world and everyone in it, you just wish you could be like that yourself. THOSE are the truly superior ones - although such a one would deny it!
Yep mom of 3 I saw people who are really pious they are more forgiving and have fear of ALLAh.
