no bashing please we are all equal and we are all muslems.. i just want to know from other pakistanis to why pashtuns should stay divided from there brothers in culture,race,religion and history across the border, but accept pakistan? i would like to know ur view and reasons to why pashtun should accept pakistan? thank you

There is no reason why any race should should pledge allegience to any nationality.. Why for example should Sikhs remain a part of India, or Uzbeks Afghani?
But if I had to give my oppinion, then its this..
1. Pathans have more oppurtunities in Pakistan. There isnt enough to go around in Afghanistan for the locals, let alone people from Pakistan. There is a reason why Afghans come to Pakistan and are still here.
2. Pathans of Pakistan are better placed to help Afghanistan recover by being in Pakistan. If they suddenly had to join Afghanistan, they would simply add to the pool of needy, Afghanistan can scarcely afford to allocate more resources. In Pakistan, Pathans are ecomonomically better of, and thus can support Afghanistan without adding to their problems.
3. Pathans claim to be Muslims, and Islam demands that you throw of your tribal, ethnic bonds for the sake of the greater Muslim brotherhood. Even if this is never actually practiced, the Pathans can demonstrate their maturity and demonstrate this very spirt thats enshrined in Islam by foregoing the urge to join their own kind. This is offcourse, wishful thinking, but I thought I should add this since the person who opened this thread brought up the whole unity and Islam notion.

Another valid question should be, why should Uzbeks not join Uzbekistan or the other minorities of Afghanistan not form their own countries?

Why should Mexican-Americans accept the US? Why should the Quebecois accept Canada? Why should the Basque accept Spain? Why should the Bavarians accept Germany? Why should the Irish accept the UK? Why should the Southern Italians accept the Northern Italians? Why should the Baloch accept Iran? Why should the Chitralis or Hazaras accept Pushtunistan?
All good questions without easy answers.

99% association is due to economic reasons. Pushtoons are third in majority in Pakistan but enjoying all benefits second to Punjabis, grabing great part of Sindhis and Baluchis share. They would be stupid to opt for Afghanistan or ask for a separate country.

another important point is how in the world are you going to eat if you separate yourself from Pakistan? There is nothing left in Afghanistan and NWFP obvioulsy cannot stand on their own when it comes to food, money etc. All 4 provinces make up and run Pakistan together.

Why is Bangladesh a seperate country and how come Indian state of Bengal is still in India??? Shouldn't they breakup India and give Bangal to Bangladesh since they share culture, race and religion????
Same could be said about Tamils of SriLanka and many others as kehkashan mentioned above.
Why is there a border between many ARAB nations who share same culture, race and religion???? If you really oppose this division, the solution is not to breakup from Pakistan and Join Afghanistan, you should join NWFP to Pasthun dominated areas in Afghanistan and create a seperate country and let Utbuks, Tajiks etc to join their own countries:) :)

NWFP has more potential than you give credit to. The only reason they have stayed behind is due to restrictions and lack of fundings. I do disagree with the fact that pakhtoons wanting a separate from Pakistan. Exactly how many Pakhtoons want this? In recent posts, there seems to be more non Pakhtoons complaining as if they are the ones wanting to separate Pakhtoons.
Again, what I don’t get is…how did everyone come to pick on Pakhtoons, I mean the most of the Mohajirs still hold Allegiance to India. The bengals in Pakistan, well don’t even need to go there…you can figure the rest.

Nop they r still not asked about that .Give them the option of where they want to live Pakistan or Afghanistan or neither ,that when the metter will be decided.

I have never heared that some one is dead because of not having food in Afghanistan or Nwfp.Afghanistan n Nwfp has enough to support itself n history is witness of that.

so pashtuns should accept pakistan for economic reasons,the day afghanistan stands back on its feet i dont think pakistan would have a problem with pashtuns re-uniting with there own people...islam doesnt tell us to divide a nation and force them live with others,this is not islam..tribes and nation does exist.the examples you ppl give of other nationalities doesnt count , still they have natural right for self determination..balochis are basically iranian people they have more in common with iran than pakistan,it is upto them to decide..
afghanistan was there long before there was any country called pakistan..tajik and pashtuns been living together for centuries and there culture and history too is almost the same and they make a total majority of the afghan population..other minorities like uzbek hardly make 5 percent of the afghan population..
punjabis if they want they can go for khalistan with there sikh causins orsimply merge back with india it will very much help rest of the moslems there.i mean pakistan doesn't make sense ,since the very first day of its creation , there is been instability in the whole south asian region..for the sake of peace and islam we should establish natural borders to put an end to this hatred and blood shed..i mean punjabis and urdu speakers have lot in common with rest of the indians and also muslems are living there,,why would they hate india anyway? i dont understand this hatred..anyways it is upto your people to decide where to live..was just my opinion..however pashtuns have full right to re-unite with there real land..one of you said pashtuns voted for pakistan. it is cuz there was no third choice for them..some pashtun might want to live in pakistan but only for economic reasons but this is just short term,though yes i agree with some of you who said afghanistan is under developed and unstable at the moment but this will not always be the reason..

It pisses me off that afghans bad mouth my country while millions of their people have been given refuge by my country during their country’s hard times…namak haraami ki bhi hadd hai
