Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

The series is over ( thank God), so what did we learn from Aussies during the month and half tour?

We are not Aussies not because we don’t have McGrath, Warne and Gilly in our side, but lets look at the other important basic elements.

Fielding: How many time we have dropped simple catches or half chances in every match, while Aussies were able to convert those half chances to full chance.

Running between the wickets: How many times we have seen our frontline batsman threw away his wicket in shameless manner during running between the wicket in both tests and oneday.

Ability to rotate the strike: We have batsman who love to play cover drive in every delivery, there is no concept among new players to rotate the strike at the start and watch the ball from the other hand, while on the other hand, players like Ponting, Langer just rely on the singles and disrupts the bowlers and fielders.

Wrong team selection: We did have quality players in the squad, but this happened so many times, when players were more suited for longer version of the game but were given chance in oneday and vice versa. We choose to go in oneday series without any strike bowler in the side and were more looking for their batsman to make mistakes and gift their wicket ( smart strategy, huhh..) Kaneria would have been a smart choice.

Improper batting order: Throughout the oneday series, batting order was quite debateable by every single expert, our experience batsmen were hiding down the order to face “LOLLY POP BOWLERS” to boost their average, hats off of to Inzi but Youhana failed to take advantage of this golden opportunity, while Aussies knew very well Ponting is their man to come in onedown.

Proper appealing to umpires: Bob Woolmer is going to teach the new method of appealing to his players, instead of saying" Out he" , the players will follow " HOWZAT" in Aussie slang to put more pressure on umpires. No more Punjabi appealing ( still better than Sami’s appealing method, where umpires used to think that he was begging,)…

Players to know their role: We have players who were in the lineup without any given role. Players like Hafeez, Azhar Mehmood, Rao and Khalil were playing because there was nobody else available to play on the bench, half of the team was suffering from injuries, how come back up was not called with the proper players?..

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

Are you depressed?

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

Well they dropped a lot and there were enough fumbles just don’t get carried away about what the most comms said in praise of Aussies …

Tell me about Heroics Mr. Ponting and Martyn performed in the VB series … just don’t criticize (spelling ???) for the sake of it … The Big Big hayden even axed from the side !!!

Again Ponting … come on he had a couple of good score in the whole series and u praising him to heaven … Langer for sure was the most times the difference between us and Aussies

Just one player can’t take u 5 or six wickets each match … Kaneria has proved to be costly in ODI’s but is a much better choice for Test as the wickets wears with time … Feel sorry for ur missing of Rana, Razzaq and Afridi in the VB series … Razzaq & Afridi got breakthroughs when we needed them … u noticed it … maybe u hinting at Actor who probably was dancing in the dark when the above mentioned put up their hand to be counted ???

Yar kaheen Ponting nay kuch khila’a diya hay tuj ko … but u r right Yoyo should come 1 down and Inzi shall follow him …

U mean to say they need to learn proper English so they can atleast get in a chat with the umpie without smiling all the time at him

So ur suggstion for Hafeez, Azher and Rao … lemme Guess … Rao should bat 1 down, Azher should bowl leg spin in teh middle overs and Hafeez as Opening bowler … What’s ur point ???

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

Hafeez, Rao and Azhar WERE the BACKUP players if one didn’t realize that yet. And as Zero_one pointed it out Aussies are human too and you will see their fall soon, though we lacked in test area due to many reasons we did give them a good run for their money in ODIs! and :insha: as our new batsmen/bowlers gain more experience Aussies will definitely see a much more competition. Ponting did admit that this Pakistani team made them work harder.

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

Difference between Australia and Pakistan is that....they axed Hayden and turned him into a water boy....he came out to the middle with the drinks for the two Australian batsman.

Can we do the same for Shoaib Akhtar?

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

^ why ? do you have a ‘thing’ about water boys? :-|:k:

If interested check numerous threads on the matter,

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

:rotfl: Some people have way too much time on their hands.

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

LOL :k:

Good observations DPG. We’re not australians because well.. we’re paki.

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

we have to take the destiny in our hands.

For years Pakistan is not playing FUNDAMENTAL cricket, they are more looking and relying for the individual performances, while Aussies are playing fundamental cricket, thier basics are all right vs our basics are all wrong.

We used to have match winners like Waseem, Waqar, Saeed Anwar but the victory percentage was more like same, so at the end match winners are important but there are lot more to be desired than just having the match winners.

All the things I pointed out are just basic and fundamental in cricket and we are missing for years..

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

: phew: too long to read man .

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

The Mighty and its little problems :mudhosh: Only they can afford this luxury of rotation. We dont even have 11 Int’l level players to play a full series :smack:

Lee calls for end to rotation

Brett Lee has joined the queue calling for Australia’s controversial one-day rotation policy to be dumped, even though it helped launch him back into international colours. Lee, who played in all of Australia’s VB Series games while his bowling team-mates were alternatively rested, said the fast men should look after themselves well enough to play every game.

“The rotation policy has definitely got to go,” Lee said. “If we are managed correctly and doing our warm-downs and stretches there is no reason why a fast bowler cannot play each and every match. It is a long season, but if we are doing the right things then I hope the rotation policy won’t be needed any longer.” Lee has missed Australia’s past nine Tests, but used his one-day playing time to strengthen claims for a return to whites in New Zealand.

However, Jason Gillespie, who was rested, said rotation should stay as it had “bugger all” effect on a player’s form, and people had been blaming it too much. “There has been a lot of talk about whether it’s been positive or negative,” he said. “If a guy needs a rest, he needs a rest. People have got to remember we just won a VB Series, and guys who were rested came back refreshed and played well.”

Allan Border, one of Australia’s selectors, said this week that the system was “dead and buried”, but Trevor Hohns, the chairman, holds on to the idea, which is his four-year-old baby. Border felt it was a factor in Matthew Hayden’s disrupted summer, which ending in him being dropped, and Lee agreed.

“Matthew Hayden took the opportunity to have a rest and it didn’t work in his favour,” said Lee. “We have always got to play our best XI, and I think that is going to happen now.”

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

What do you mean Pakis aren't Aussies? They're Arabs aren't they?

just kidding. Remember what Shoaib said (somewhat truthfully I thought) - had he been born in Australia, he would have been the most celebrated pacer - instead of being dragged down by the rest of the mediocrity

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

^ yeah, Lee is the most celebrated pacer and thats why he is dropped more often than McGrath :hehe:

Re: Why Pakistani are not Aussies?

It's true we lag behind the Aussies in EVERY aspect of the game. Yet, we proved that they aren't invincible. Were it not for a few dodgy umpiring decisions and lack of application by our batsmen, we would've thrashed them easily in the VB series. How could such a young and inexperienced team come so close to beating the Aussies in their own backyard? Maybe it was team spirit and cohesion that was lacking in the earlier part of the tour. Or Maybe it just shows that Aussies are true World Champions and thorough professionals - no matter what the situation they'll never throw in the towel.
