Hi all,
This is my first post in this forum. I just keep going my eyes on different interesting, funny and informative posts. But today i am going to open a post where we will discuss about our very important topic. About “SLEEVELESS”.
Summer is approaching at the same time this is the time to go with trend. Obviously not with the exposing Western or indian fashion. Come out with all the arguments, Do you think we cant were sleeveless? If not then why? Do you like to get comfort with it? The peoples against it just discuss with yourself why you are avoiding from getting comfort in hot seasons? Being afraid of the society? Who like to wear it say why you are not finding out the supporting points to make you confident? Lets discuss and make a clear concept of supporters, against of sleeveless. No personal attack. Just express your opinions. Thank you.
I’m not sure whether or not this is supposed to be a serious thread…but O.M.G. I really needed this laugh! I’ve had a LONG day at work and I just came here and read this…re-read it again to make sure I read it right the 1st time…and literally burst out laughing!
Was totally comfortable wearing it and didn't give a hoot about who thought what.
Stopped because I was wrong - my Allah says to cover. No questions asked.
For me it was always about the levels of religion I was on.
Sorry don't mean to start a different topic...
PS - there seems to be allot fo belittling going on, on GS. We keep this up and we'll have successfully alienated all newbies. If you dont like the thread or find it comicial refrain from responding. Don't mock.
I don't exactly understand what do you want people to debate on but I surely am comfortable with wearing sleevess. My parents have never had any issues. However, I couldn't care less if anyone else had issues. I was brought up differently where my parents pretty much were cool with almost everything.
My mom doesn't care about sleeveless but I've never worn it, I guess. I don't like the look of sleeveless, I'd rather wear thinner straps as opposed to sleeveless which kinda' look masculine.
OK, I will apologize to OP or anyone else who was offended by my previous post. It’s just…a discussion about sleeves vs. sleevesless…in a fashion forum…and mentioning it as a “very important” topic…I just totally lost it. Sorry!
As mama ki dua mentioned…I’m not sure what’s there to support or not support regarding this from a fashion sense. Personally, I wear sleeveless. I’m comfortable with. However, my mother and sisters do not wear sleeveless b/c they’re more religious than me. When dealing with desis…religion/culture/family upbringing is usually what prevents desi girls from wearing sleeveless. Or some girls just don’t like the way it looks. There’s no “right” vs. “wrong” in this and there’s not much to debate (at least not in my humble opinion).
Sleeveless shalwar kameez look odd to me. I think they tend to look great on very thin women. If you have any tone/flab...it just looks odd. Besides that, my family's pretty conservative about clothing (showing skin, too tight etc)...so I've never worn sleeveless things anyways.
I don't think it looks right...it looks like something is missing and SHOULD be there but ISN'T. I haven't found a single sleeveless outfit that looked complete just the way it was.
There are lots of ways to find comfort in hot weather...one of them is an air conditioner.
Its up to the person. I don't wear sleeveless but I never felt I missed out on anything!! If the person is comfortable wearing sleeveless stuff, it doesn't affect what how i may perceive them.
i actually like sleeveless but then again as Muniya said i don't wear it coz my Allah doesn't like it. So then it doesn't make diff ur parents, husbands or society allows u or not. A friend wrote it on fb n i actually liked it. it says" Gunnah k chotay honay ki taraf mat dekho bulkay ye dekho tum na-fermani kis ki ker rehay ho".
doesnt feel right, a part of me, though not full practising muslim, i still feel like a traitor if i start showing too much skin....so i tend to wear full slevees.
coming awa from religion,
husband doesnt like it, neither does my own family.
plus i got fat arms.
plus it looks wrong on salwar kamiz, its like the new trend where people dont wear duppattas anymore....looks wrong.
