Why On Earth

Every “William” has a nick name “Bill”.

Mirch can you “google” the reason for me please.

LOL , too busy at the moment.

Re: Why On Earth

yea…why not Will :konfused:

I knew, none but one, at least, "read" my posts.

Wesey Mirch Bahi Ap Kia karat ho, Kaheen Naey Modon Kee GoshMalli tu nahee ker rahey.

I have asked this question to one of my friend who is known as “Bill”, he has no clue.

Re: Why On Earth

Ok I searched it for you since I was searching something worked related.
William in Great Britain was eventually shortened to Will. Eventually, Will became Bill and that's the way it's been ever since.
Who knows who does these things? For instance, anyone with the last name Miller is usually nicknamed "Dusty" because the name Miller derived from people who worked in mills that ground grain to flour. Who knows who starts these things. It becomes a trend for some reason and sticks.

Re: Why On Earth

or

When William of Orange ruled England, Ireland and Scotland, he was noted for leaving massive debts wherever he went. The proprietors all across the land, knew of his reputation and while they couldn't refuse the ruler of the land, they knew that after he left they would be laden with many bills to pay...and wherever he went the people would say, "Here comes bills."

Re: Why On Earth

Mirch and Teggy, thanks for your help.

one more question;

Why kaka is always "Manha" and is read "Kaka Manha", this is a "non-googleable" question

My parents moved out of Pubjab when I was a baby , so I would not know. My Punjabi is dhaka start. When I talk in Punjabi it shounds like an Engine which misfires/misses beats frequently.

your male friend has a nick "billi"? I thought billi was used more for girls....

And it proves that if you add an "i" with a nick, it will change gender of one who carries the nick. Just like an "i" with Lus makes it a girl. (lol)
