and the response of his government so muted when US embassy has been torched in Belgrade. Had it happened in Iran, a full scale war would have been lodged by now.
Re: Why Ohioguy is quiet
Because Big Brother Stalin’s very much alive, besides it wasn’t Muslims that burned down the embassy. So clearly it does not qualify to be lableled Islamic Terrorism.
So the best choice of action, Diplomatic reponse. ![]()

You are misreading this one Iconoclast…don’t you think the Serbs have been Bombed Enough Already!
By the Way…Iran did take down the US Embassy…why do you think they were labled by All the Bushes as the Axis of Evil!

They killed few hundred thousand people before they were bombed into silence.
I was talking in terms of todays world. If such thing had happened in Iran, it would have moved few US naval ships around the Persian gulf.
Re: Why Ohioguy is quiet
Wow, a whole thread about why I am quiet or not.
Iconoclast, I seem to remember the Iranians kidnapping and holding hostage all of our embassy workers. Was there a war?
Since the Embassy was evacuated I am certain that the US anticipated this response, after all, I am sure quiet discussions about the date and time that Kosovo would declare independence were going on for months.
Embassies are actually sovereign land of the visiting country. Attacking an embassy is indeed tantamount to attacking the country itself in terms of international law. On the other hand, the Serbs have a reputation as a bunch of thugs, I am sure that the State Department considers it a small price to pay for Kosovar independence.
We move ships around in the Persian gulf ever day of the year. Gunboat diplomacy is really quite effective.

Re: Why Ohioguy is quiet
yeah folks let's not forget that when the bleeding heart Europeans were trying to discover if they had gonads it was USA that saved bosnians from the Serb thugs and it was USA again that helped Kosovo get independence

Stir up the fire in this region is by European hands only. Think again!
I would like to quote some comments on this very conflict from a poster (this poster is no means a Serb nor a sympathizer of them) on blog, which pretty much sums up of what I know:
[quote]
There are so many problems with US involvement in Yugoslavia, one hardly knows were to begin. I would even go so far as to say that the US played a part in re-igniting old conflicts and encouraging the breakdown of Yugoslavia, mainly because of the complete lack of influence over the region. Yugoslavia being untouchable and dangerously socialist under Tito. But that is an entirely different story.
I’m still baffled by the one-sided history lessons that we keep getting even to this day. With Bosnian Muslims always being the victims and Serbs, bosnian or otherwise, being demonized. It’s sad. And even sadder to see misinformation being perpetuated. Like the effectiveness of terror air campaigns. Not wanting to discuss how difficult and bloody the US made the peace and how the new massive US military bases in the region will be there indefinitely.
Alexander Solzhenitsyn perhaps said it best at the time: “I don’t see any difference in the behaviour of NATO and of Hitler. NATO wants to erect its own order in the world and it needs Yugoslavia simply as an example: We’ll punish Yugoslavia and the whole rest of the planet will tremble.”
NATO of course being synonymous with the US
